WTF is the deal with these flights back from Dallas to FLL on Monday?

$400 one way for a 1 stop flight.

Anybody have any success/suggestions that don't include flying Spirit?

They're all expensive. I just flew Spirit to Myrtle Beach last month and it was actually not bad. I bought tickets through American Airlines to Dallas but they were around $375 each and that was one of the best deals. I used an app that projects costs and tells you when to buy, I think it's called Hopper.
 
Obviously not feasible for everyone but you can get a non-stop back on American for like $100 less round-trip if you stay another day until Tuesday. Otherwise Ol' Spirit is seemingly the only other economical alternative.
 
I honestly think it depends on where you’re flying from too, I paid 170 for round trip. When I’m flying into Fort Lauderdale it’s double that price.
