Yes. We should always assume, to be on the safe side, that we might lose two rbs every season for varying periods of time. That has happened in the past. This year we've seen Lyle and Fletcher go down.

Unfortunately, it’s a position where you have to assume injury.

Na honestly if Pringle proves he can handle 50% of the carries and responsibility and the whole playbook, make him the starter because he’s electric. But that’s not to say we still can’t have 3 RB’s get carries. Especially at a position that has injuries throughout the year. IMO if Pringle finishes the year strong , you could see something like 50% Pringle, 35% Fletcher 15% Brown type split

Fletcher deserves ZERO Nil increase period. If he wants an increase let him walk or declare. His current play is his ceiling. His positive impact on this roster is being a short yardage back. That’s it. He’s likely already making more than he’s worth given how much @DMoney (incorrectly imo) says other teams would be lining up to pay him…

The truth here is:

When we flipped Fletcher & Lyle from Ohio St - everyone probably had visions of the 2 recruits & 2 transfers in bold below

The Reality - They'd have been closer to the 10 other Ohio St recruits not in bold

Even the best schools have a ton of misses (at every position)

I think one thing that no one is taking into account is Fletcher’s injury history here at Miami, the young man who may just wanna shoot his shot for the now because that same reason

Everyone who keeps mentioning Martinez is clearly not thinking logically, because there OBVIOUSLY were off-field factors there. We know he was put of shape entering the season. We have heard rumors the draft process didn't go well. And the fact he isn't even on a practice squad right now isn't a reflection of his ability as a runner.

Martinez being on a roster or not has no bearing on Fletchers draft prospects or ability to make a practice squad or roster are. Last year's RB class was also Loaded
 


I don't know the discourse on twitter but saw this and I'm guessing it's from @DMoney , I think the psychology behind how mark return will be viewed unfair as it is, is because right now Pringle epitomizes the unshackling of the offense and whatever plus fletcher added also entails A-hole offense almost exclusively.. and that ties to the early season woes of running into loaded boxes no matter what.. not really fletcher fault but that's how they used him for better or worse..

I read one page and the answer is he should transfer to somewhere he believes can maximize his talent. Where that is, I don't know as I don't watch enough college football anymore to say. He'd likely get more money too as the transfer market is flush with cash.

Even if he stays, he's likely making more money than as an UDFA. I don't see an NFL back, but I could most certainly be wrong. The back we had that went to Rutgers, I didn't see it with him and he collected some paychecks or still is. Similar type players to me.

I hope this isn't the case, but I do think Brown may leave

When Lyle came back - Brown was relegated to just a short yardage role. When Fletcher got hurt - Lyle then Pringle started.

I think the coaches made it clear by not starting Brown that they view him as a role player.

He's proved he can play at this level, so he could come back next year and be a #3/role player, or go somewhere else and start (and probably get more $). He has options.

I think it all comes down to how happy is he is with Miami and his role.

2023 - Fletcher 4.9 ypc - Parrish 6.3
2024 - Fletcher 5.4 ypc - Martinez 6.3
2025 - Fletcher 5.1 ypc - Pringle 6.8 (currently)

Right or wrong - this is why Fletcher gets hated on.

Fletcher is a dependable and consistently good (not great) RB. He's a lunch pail/workman like RB. But that's not exciting. There's always another RB in the same backfield with more juice.

If Fletcher left we could go to the portal and get a similar talent. Like this year we got Brown who's a similar (but IMO a small notch below) talent.

But I don't want Fletcher to leave. He's a Miami kid, a great dude, someone you can easily root for and someone you'd want in your locker room. You want to see the hometown guy do well.

I think you can be a big fan of Fletcher & really want to see him succeed while still being realistic about his talent level.

If you mean, Pringle being overloaded due to a predictable and vanilla running offense yeah then it’ll probably be in street clothes just like Fletcher
