Fletcher in '26

As a pro prospect? He won’t get drafted as high as those guys as an underclassman. As a Cane, he’s that type of contributor.

Before the season, you said Byron Louis (-2 yards) was better than Pringle. Do you still feel that way, or has your opinion changed?
I'm with you Fletcher takes too much criticism. I said all off-season he'd be our best RB this year.

But Fletcher's averaging 5.1 ypc as our lead back. Homer/Dallas/Martinez were 5.9+ ypc as our lead back. Can you explain why you think they're similar?

For Pringle I said "I like Louis over Pringle, but wouldn't argue against anyone that preferred Pringle, and I can definitely see Pringle ending up the better RB"

Pringle looks really good so far. I'll be very happy if I'm wrong and Pringle keeps playing like he has the last 2 games.

But IMO we haven't seen enough of either Pringle (34 carries) or Louis (2 carries) to make that call.

Example - in the same Pringle/Louis post you're referencing - I said I liked Chauncey Bowens over Lyle. At that time - Bowens had 58 yds at 3.6 ypc. Lyle had 400 yds at 7.4 ypc.

Now would you rather have Bowens or Lyle?

That’s the type of player that has no benefit of leaving early for the NFL. We all love him but he doesn’t have any outstanding traits maybe besides pass pro. Hes going to be fighting for roster spots the entire time he’s chasing an NFL dream, why not have 4 great years of college instead of throwing 1 year of eligibility away? Plus he’s a hometown kid, there’s a reason to stick around the family before bouncing around teams and practice squads (maybe, the nfl is tough)
Why would you want someone to come back who would be fighting for a roster spot in the NFL?

I believe Mark Fletcher should leave early and go to the NFL because they’re 32 teams that can utilize his skills set, whether it be short yardage situations or pass protection, etc.

Martinez is a better back than him and he is not in league. Fletcher is just adequate and he should maximize whatever he can make in cfb and go from there.. Honestly wish if we wanted to be a running team we invested in getting better backs.. We should have superstar backs.. Not sure why we dont recruit dynamic backs after Martinez..

Didnt seattle bring martinez back ?

Because he’s averaging 5 ypc and is a good short yardage back. Unless you just want Mallory to fill that role as a true freshman? Also he’s a leader.

D$ nailed it on the head. Can we just appreciate that’s he’s a great College back. Probably doesn’t have the speed or dynamic ability for the NFL

Let’s hope he comes back
if your not pumped about a pringle/fletcher backfield next year i have to question your football iq ... they compliment each other incredibly well

Because the ACC isn't the NFL lol he is plenty good & productive as a college back and would 100% be a net positive in our RB room if he were to come back .

It has been a long long time since we've had an elite back. We've had some good ones, no doubt, and maybe Duke qualifies as elite. But it has been rare.

Pringle holds the promise of being elite, though defenses might start to plan to stifle his cutbacks.

So Pringle is providing consistency and explosiveness in the running game in this new rip-it offense………do you put Fletcher back at RB1?

i already know lyle is going to leave. that wasnt up for debate.

i think brown would leave for more carries (well have pringle, CWH, whoever else we bring in from the portal, and the freshmen)

That’s not going to cut it. You know these things or your assume these things?

Fletcher, Brown and Lyle all gone? No chance

if DM didnt get picked up, fletcher has no shot. hes udfa and will get a shot in a camp
I get that - Martinez is a clear level above Fletcher.

Martinez not even staying on a practice squad is confusing. There's seems to be some non-football issues.

A Seahawks podcast after the draft that said "The feedback from teams during Martinez's interviews was they questioned how much he actually loves playing football". What that even means...I don't know.

But Robert Burns (remember him?) got an NFL paycheck for 2 years from the Bears & Falcons.

So weird things happen and luck plays a part with these late round/UDFA guys.

The notion that Martinez is unemployed should be telling to Fletcher. Best case scenario would be for him to return, but NIL package shouldn’t break the bank, either. The return of Brown & HS recruits give us size & toughness to compliment Pringle. RB room can never be to full with players susceptible to injury.

Fletcher returning next season is not out of the question. I’m all for it as long as we bring someone with speed in the portal. Need more guys who can hit the hole faster and runs away from contact instead of runs towards it. Having Fletcher and Brown on the field at the same time makes little sense to me. Dawson special.
