fletcher and toney locked in for next year? - Fletcher said he'll be back

yea u remember that scrub qb for OSU back in the day got drafted just for playing well in the playoffs hahaha

these games are spotlight games
fletcher has a huge stage to elevate his stock
same with our defensive stars, if our Dline keeps playing like this mesidor could work himself into the first round
they already have mesidor listed as the 2nd best DE in the draft behind bain......can't really improve on that.

If you aren't a highly rated RB going to the NFL is a bad decision in the NIL era where you can get top dollar in college as opposed to being a practice squad player making 9k a week.

pay em both. no doubt in my mind we will.

if fletch leaves it would be for the NFL, which if he looks like he did again against OSU, i wouldnt blame him

I heard Toney and his right foot are having problems not only on the field but in the locker room also. I'm happy to report that after scoring the game winning touchdown. Toney and his foot have come to terms that they are stuck with each other and there will be no more tripping between the two of them. They both will be coming back next year.
Good to see you back.

Bell has had a sizable offer for quite some time. The plan was definitely to come back for 2026. But the NFL may be too sure of a thing to pass up.
If hes going first round, I get it.
But if not, it would say alot about the culture to stay another year like Fletcher. How many times we seen other top schools keep kids that had good nfl prospects because they wanted to win or enjoy college another year?
And how often did we see glimpses of our kids but they bolt even though they were likely going to be late round picks or UDFA?

Times are changing.

Question - depending on his draft grade, would there be any type of insurance we kind buy for the kid, similiar to those injury insurance policies?

In reverse order...usually, you could buy insurance for a kid's draft position to protect against INJURY, but I'm not sure anyone insurance company covers "he was supposed to be a first rounder but slipped to the third round".

In connection with that, I believe that OLs tend to go a bit lower than they should. The "skill position" and DL guys are the **** first-round picks. My feeling is that Markel would likely go in the 2nd round, though his size would warrant a 1st round pick.

I believe the key to his draft spot (and possibly his desire to stay in school or leave) can be tied to his background. He was a JuCo kid, so maybe teams would LIKE to see another year of upward development, while Markel may be looking to make a business decision.

The goal IS to make the NFL, even if UM pays a lot better than college-life once did. Once these guys make the league, they get the benefits of insurance, pension accrual, etc.

If he has another game like he did last Saturday, it's going to be hard to turn down the next level. Same thing goes for Fletcher. A lot of football left to play

Said it many weeks ago in a different thread that Fletcher coming back is huge for the team. Some idiots tried to say he can move on like he isn’t a good football player.

Fletcher, Pringle, Mallory, Brown and whoever else is a very nice backfield for next year.
He's a great running back, but its huge for reasons that have nothing to do with that at all too.

This is the captain of our ship and we want his personality imprinted on one more team.

I can't believe people are worried about Fletch and Baby Jesus. The guys with the most passionate moms, the guys who are pretty much guaranteed to stay in Miami for however long they attend college...

I agree on Toney - silly to worry about him. Fletcher is different, imo. The reality of being a highish NFL pick while stringing some great games together is here. If Fletcher has another great game against OSU, I wouldn't be surprised if he starts having pause about coming back.

I still think he returns but it's different than Toney. If Fletch comes back, I'm hoping Brown sticks around. I'm anticipating CWH and Lyle will transfer.
