FIU game thread about us

Let’s not bash FIU please. They offer and opportunity for locals that can’t afford UM to get an education while staying close. I’m one of those locals. Rank on the football team all you want but they do good in our community.

Totally. I support the school itself 100%. It has become a pretty nice campus, too.

This must’ve given kids nightmares for weeks. Probably mentally scarred a whole generation of FIU students and children.

Wow, huge inferiority complex going on in there
they need to quit the whole they are university of miami thing. i have news for them they aren't located in miami either. they should call themsevles university of florida at unincorporated miami-dade county.

Pretty sure this dude is a troll that's just trying to be a caricature of the ***aloons in the FIU fanbase. If his intention was to draw more eyeballs to their message board, mission accomplished

****....posted this as part of another thred... my bad

FIU gonna be scrappy but I think we take it over if we come in focused, can never underestimate a lesser opponent. We let them hang around and it may prove very unwise. Hope everyone (corches and players) come out ready to swing and break some kind of NCAA record.

"When you throw a punch you can't get in the habit of punching softer just cuz the opponent is smaller. Everyone gets broke off the same" (Some guy I knew, 2019)

Same as baga playing Western Carolina tomorrow.

Sort of but not quite. This is a cross town opponent with a major inferiority complex towards UM. We had a pretty major brawl in recent history that only further tarnished our rep. It's not like they have anything to lose. We don't benefit in any way to risk playing them while they have everything to gain. Why are we doing them any favors?

meanwhile just went back to there thread and realized its two pages total. i think miami fans care more about FIU football than FIU fans care about FIU football.
Yea i bet it's a ******* ghost town over there, I don't blame them

I am not going to rag on FIU as an institution. A good portion of our fanbase collected a degree there.

That said, I have never understood these ***galoons who go on about "yOu ShOuLdN't Be A fAn UnLeSs YoU wEnT tHeRe." I seriously wonder if they realize that college football would be bankrupted in three minutes if not for fans that never went to the school they happen to root for. College football fandom goes far beyond having attended an institution. There is local, player, and cultural pride. Miami is a great example of a team that represents a larger culture than just a football team.

Additionally, why should someone abandon their fandom simply because they end up attending a different school? Let's say you watch the Canes for 13 seasons by the time you're ready to go to college. You've worn the gear, attended live games, followed recruiting. For whatever reason, you go to FIU, or F$U, UiF, whatever school. I'd posit that if your allegiance magically changes by virtue of stepping on another campus, you were never much of a fan in the first place.

UM football played for 40 years before FIU existed as a school. UM football won 5 national championships before FIU fielded a football team. FIU fans need to get over it.
