It was real loud in there after they made the ejection call. Guy next to me threw his beer on the field at the refs. We were sitting in that endzone.
 
You’d think that call wouldn’t be possible and it would have to be one or the other.

Crowd looked pretty good on TV -- what was it like in person?

One (very slight) silver lining about the last few years is that our attendance has noticeably improved... Obviously has nothing to do with the on-field product, but still a component of the overall health of the program.

Man it was worth my four hour flight delay and traffic jam to the stadium. I usually pick the best opponent we face at home every season and try to attend.

My section was rowdy as ****. Can't say I didn't partake in some obscene chants too. Haaaaaa! Way better attendance than I expected on a Friday night and with the VT loss.

This is what sold it for me . I been supporting Coach Manny long enough and even debated with others about him being our head coach but I'm done. I was amazed that our coaching staff did not know what was going on? They should of pulled him out. Carter was literally walking around on the field and even broke the defense huddle . Luckily it did not cost Us. Even when VA was on the goal line. Smh #AmateurHour


Terrible Coaching.
 
I thought the officials did him a favor by not calling it a personal foul. I thought for sure they'd issue him a double lifetime suspension.

Ahh with the "I've never seen such incompetence" stuff.

Go back and rewatch Virginia Tech at Miami in 1996; the 21st game in the career of Paul Hilton "Butch" Davis and get back to me about in game management, or looking like a head coach / leader.

Queued it up right before halftime here; Butch and Clement getting into in over going for it with :08 remaining, or kicking. Clement gets his way, throws quick out to Yatil Green, who gets out of bounds; :03 remaining. Butch sends out the kicking team, Clement losing it (was sitting just over tunnel where Canes run out for this game; saw the whole thing. On TV, commentators even talk about Butch backing down to his quarterback—Clement going nuts on the sideline like a mental patient.)

Virginia Tech calls timeout with too many men on field; Butch sends Clement back out there and Miami can't get play called in time (out of timeouts)—delay of game penalty. Crosland then whiffs on the kick after the delay of game penalty; 7-7 at the half.

Bonus points for this dog of a finish, too—Canes trailing 14-7—Convington in late for injured Clement, hits Tony Gaiter on goal line on second down; wide open drop. Covington runs on third, picks up a few. Fourth down, throws into double coverage and Keion Carpenter returns it 101 yards, Miami loses, 21-7.


Years later, Butch goes on to be a pillar in Hurricanes football history—architect of the best team ever, parlayed gig into NFL shot, back to college and coached up North Carolina to look like a mini-Miami years later.

Less than two years into his first coaching gig, he looked all the part of an amateur—like a lot of guys before him.

All this "SMH Manny" stuff—Butch was as bad, if not worse when he started out, and Butch was doing it with the program in much better shape; the effects of probation barely hitting yet and two years from a 10-2 season that had Miami in the Orange Bowl against eventual champ, Nebraska—finishing #3 in the nation.

Manny took over a 7-6 dog and a program 100-73 since the 2005 Peach Bowl. Canes are a mid-level ACC team and are playing like one right now. Shouldn't be shocking that there are bumps and bruises year one. Relax.

Miami always gets penalized for the most random things. I've see may 4 Targeting calls all season.. 2 against us; both on Carter.

I've yet to see illegal participation called against anyone. We are never given the benefit of the doubt. Always guilty.

Our fans are such degenerates. It is honestly embarrassing to be a Canes fan sometimes. Someone threw a bottle at a VT player after that game ended too.

They were in the end zone and Amari was backing out of the end zone. The play clock was already running so a coach would have had to spend a timeout or run across the field to get him off in time. But you know what it would have been if a coach ran on the field to get him....that’s right a penalty.

Bone headed move by Amari but it’s dumb to put that on Manny.

My brother I hear you ... So we just leave a player in the game instead of yelling at him to come off the field ... lol Yeah ok. I guess Saban would of done the same thing. SMH Both Bones heads if you ask me!
