Fire Shannon Dawson

Have you left the parking lot?

I may still be there in the same stupor if I didn't have the family with me.

Still can't believe we gave away another national championship.
We really do give up a lot in NC games

He's not wrong. While it was the wrong read, it was there. Ball should been outside shoulder and corner of the end zone. Drastically under thrown. Correct read was the slow developing crossing route I believe Malachi was running. That play gets us down to at least the 10. Hindsight is what it is. Hopefully we learn from this and it fuels us. I have my concerns about that simply because our core is essentially transfer players who are leaving. But we'll see. Don't know Ethan O'Connors eligibility but it's time for him to go.

Our core is mostly transfer players that are leaving? Maybe we're looking at a different roster. Miami had a ton of homegrown impact players, a lot of those guys are leaving because they are about to make a ton of money at the next level. A lot of the guys that were able to flash in limited roles will be expected to continue their growth, as they move into more playing time, which is how it should be. Miami will supplement the losses(We hit for a high average in the portal the last two years, but no one complains about that unless it's Miami doing the hitting), with the portal, which is perfectly fine.

If Mensah comes on board, I have no doubt Miami will be in the thick of the chase again, especially if guys like Lightfoot, Scott and Blount continue their growth trajectories. I'm not expecting anyone to be Mesidor/Bain, but Miami should be stout defensively, with a more explosive offense.

20 rushing attempts for 110 yards while averaging 5.5 yds a carry. IU had 46 rushing attempts for 131 yards. Dawson abandoned the running game; we had only 8 rushing attempts in the second half. Let those numbers sink in!
When you are down two scores, you tend to do that. That's why the punt block was so crucial, it forced Miami to have to start speeding things up, we needed additional possessions, because IU was going to bleed the clock, that's how they play. They rely on you to make a mistake, then they squeeze the life out of you by grinding it out with their two backs.

This is my first peek in this ignorant thread so don't take this to personal, subtract Fletcher's one 57 yard run from that total. I am guessing that leaves about a 2.7 ypc avg. We couldn't run the ball in the first half at all.
This thread is no more ignorant than the O'Conner thread. It is what our posters do.

2 of 5 offensive lineman, 2 of top 3 wr, 1 te, 1 QB, considering we have 11 starters on that side of the ball I'd call it the majority of the core who transferred in and are leaving. Same applies for 2 of 4 dl, 2 of 3 DBS(hopefully a 3rd in O'CONNOR) & 1lb has since got another year. That's just transfers who start that are gone. Doesn't account for our own homegrown like Francis and bain & anez & thank God wes or backups like alderman. We're losing a lot. Absolutely our depth is a lot better than where it's been. But we'll have to see how that depth plays when it is necessary and a bigger capacity. So maybe we're not looking at the same team if 10 transfer starters who are leaving out of 22 starters doesn't account for a heavy amount of our core...

Would you quote the stats if we took a knee numerous times instead of running inside zone over and over? Context is always necessary. Not simply a stat.

There are few and I mean few successful programs that are running the bulk of their guys as homegrown. There's a chart that showed Miami as firmly in the middle(of the teams in the CFP) in regards to snaps played by transfers.

You fill in gaps and add in transfers when you can, especially if you can upgrade a room. The fact that our transfers played significant roles and the team won is proof that someone was doing their homework and landing the right transfers. This wasn't a 2023 FSU situation, where you couldn't even point to someone playing significant snaps that was a traditional recruit. It's when you rely on transfers **** near exclusively that you run into the sustainability issue(We're about to see IU address that, especially seeing that Cigs has lost the bulk of his culture guys).

This

We were about to be in position to do that to them and the punt block killed that

Cane30, you're entitled to your own opinion. You are not entitled to your own facts. The Fletcher 57-yard TD happened. Stop trying to change the discussion to change the subject.

To me this was a limited offense with no explosive ability for most part besides getting the ball to 10. Probably one of Dawsons better coaching jobs coming off of #1 offense to go with two journeyman WR, a talented but should be in high school freshman, a complete zero (and thats being nice) at TE, Limited QB and talented OL and RB but run game did not get on track for mjority of season as many expected.. Still if this is a down year it was still good..

As we sit now, we think QB will be upgrade, Oline has early question marks, but skill guys should be very good.. TE still neglected at TEU, sigh..

Seriously, who was the last offensive coordinator that made slurpers and Mope unite in celebration?

Don't fire Dawson.

1 Need a legit TE

2 Must find an outside WR able to make plays. Eddie Royal was saying it all night. Need a wr able to win. That dude might be on the team now in Josh Moore. Maybe the 2 portal additions

3 start games with more aggression in the passing game

4 develop a little more variety in the run game

5 Let Mensah cook
Even if we have a legit TE will Dawson use it? even last year we didn’t use Elijah until down the stretch of the second half of the season

Like a python.

You exhale, they tighten.

I'm not a football analyst like so many here are - and I admire that. I hear terms I don't even know WTH they mean.

I probably have this all wrong, but I saw an IU team that didn't have a lot of plays - but the ones they called - they were so practiced, and so smooth, and so well timed - they worked when they really needed them to.

Our team was more talented, and gave them some fits - but smooth execution gave them a bit more to rely on.

Their receivers seemed to get open more and made more out of the passing plays - and our guys ran the basic pattern - and very little scrambling once the route was so well covered.

What's the sweet spot for us?

The kid didn’t have a great game. It was poor. With that being said we don’t have a single player in the roster except a 5’10 freshman who would have made those catches
What happened to Joshua Moore? He was lighten it up at the beginning of the season. Making plays then he disappeared.

Our offense pretty much had to be perfect bc of the lack of explosive plays and the pace we played at. Some pace would have helped with creating explosive plays.

The only problem I really had with Dawson is him only incorporating pace when we are behind.
