We lost to the only top 25 team we played this year, and they put up 156 rushing yards on our D in the process. UNC put up 215. Not sure where the confusion is. Shouldn't rely on turnovers to win games.

Not sure if you're confusing me w/ someone else, but I've never said Butch Davis is a genius.

That's kinda like saying you shouldn't rely on touchdown passes to win games...try harder.
 
The running QB is one of the last unanswered questions for him. If we dominate UVA then I think its safe to say Manny is turning the corner. Everyone knows its coming. Take a page out of NC States playbook. They shut Perkin's *** down two weeks ago.

You're ignoring the fact that we held LSU to their lowest offensive yardage output so far this year, and their scoring was greatly assisted by special teams ***** ups, turnovers, and penalties on our part. Their yards per rush was all of 3.8 YPC, and 50 of their yards came on one broken play where we stupidly had a bunch of backups and freshmen in at the same time. The defense has gotten better since then.
 
Wait... how does giving up more rushing yards to UNC equate to the defense getting better? I agree players have been making plays, kudos to good coaching and whatever else goes into prep. But, god help us in those games qbs dont throw interceptions and/or fumbles
 
Defense is doing a lot more than just turnovers.how about tackles behind the line of scrimmage sacks etc.you say unc gained 215 yds rushing.then why was the score 40-10 in our favor.did unc gain those yds during garbage time when the outcome was already decided.Team is not the same since the lsu game.think losing that game helped us more than it hurt us.

So the defense has absolutely nothing to do with causing interceptions and causing fumbles?

When you add in context of special teams constantly giving other teams great field position, and that rosier pick 6 and fsu punt return is also included against the defense scoring, dont forget the Willis finger gun flag directly led to UNC TD, scoring D has actually been pretty good. Always can be better but teams havent been able to drive down field on us with regularity. We really need to work on special teams tho, that is what really affects the D the most

If we had a punter that can punt for let’s say 40-45 yards, I promise you our D would be too 10 in scoring. I mean you gotta be honest with yourself and look at the big picture and that is the DEFENSE ALL YEAR LONG HAS HAD TO DEFEND TEAMS IN OUR TERRITORY NEVER ON THE OTHER SIDE.
The way our special team punt the ball I mean all the other teams have to do is get 1 first down and they can get a field and that’s 3 points right there even after the d stop em

All of us Manny hater stated this weeks ago. Stopped the delayed blitzes, quit playing Knowles, moved the backers up on running situations, not as much zone coverage. My problem was it took 2 1/4 years for him to see it. Truth is if it wasn't for some bad tackling and terrible angles, our d could have had one of the most ridiculous statistical seasons ever. Manny could have looked even better, so yeah there is that too.
