I was late to this thread adding in my $02 cents. I stoked an unnecessary fireI think it’s important to remember that not everyone was sold on Mario from the beginning. Going back to the Mark Richt and Manny Diaz hires, there were people who questioned the idea of bringing Mario in whenever his name came up. Some never wanted him as the head coach, and that skepticism has carried over into his tenure at Miami. Because of that, you have people who are quick to seize any opportunity to criticize him. And what better way to do that than to prop up the coach who stepped into Mario’s old position at Oregon and found quicker success? It gives them an opportunity to push the narrative that Miami made the wrong hire.
I'm not saying everyone in this thread falls into that category, because that's certainly not the case. But those people do exist, and some are just waiting for Miami to take a loss so they can jump in and say, "I told you so." Rather than acknowledging the progress this program has made under Mario, they're more interested in finding evidence to support the opinion they held before he ever coached a game here. Having some skepticism is fair, especially considering everything this fanbase has been through over the years. Nobody is saying you have to blindly believe in Mario or ignore his mistakes. But if you're not someone who genuinely hopes he fails, then I think it's time to let this go. This thread doesn't need to continue any further.
The fact that NO ONE is trying to hire Lanning away from Oregon should tell you everything you need to know about Dan Lanning lol. The End.Oregon has so much more talent than UCLA. Both were on their backup QBs. Oregon should've comfortably won that game, but didn't. Lanning may be decent as a DC, but I don't think he's shown to be a good HC so far. (I say "may" because I can't speak to his tenure in Georgia since I don't know what the divide in work and responsibilities were between Smart, Schumann, and Lanning.)
There are probably a couple programs that would take a stab at him… he is at a bit of a crossroads right now though and has a $20 million dollar buyout. The fact that NO ONE is trying to hire Lanning away from Oregon should tell you everything you need to know about Dan Lanning lol. The End.
You’ve got a better response than that I hope.
I’d give you an intelligent response, but I don’t want to confuse you. You’ve got a better response than that I hope.
Sounds like a cop out to me...but thank you for your important contribution to the discussion. Nothing says "I am the smart one" like a GIF.I’d give you an intelligent response, but I don’t want to confuse you.![]()
Some comments and communication are best answered with silence, because anything else would be an over investment, as is the case here. Good daySounds like a cop out to me...but thank you for your important contribution to the discussion. Nothing says "I am the smart one" like a GIF.
