Final PPG vs P5 Stats

2019 MiamiEnos25.55
2020 MiamiLashlee34.3
2021 MiamiLashlee34
2022 MiamiGattis16.89

Gattis' offensive output against P5 was basically 2 TDs and a FG per game. I'm not going to beat a dead horse anymore, everyone knows he needs to be let go.

Statistically this was basically the same defense from the previous 2 years. The defense did not regress but made no significant progress either.

The story that I see here is that in the course of 1 year we halved our offensive production which cost us an additional 2 games (7-5 vs 5-7). In my opinion we're paying way too much $ for these results. I like Steele but both him and Gattis need to be let go. Given the overhaul that needs to take place I would really like to see Mario hire 2 elite coordinators and let them hire their staffs as they see fit. I know there are some coaches on this staff we like but we really need to let the new coordinators pick the ingredients to coordinate the best offense and defense possible.
How many more chances did we give opposing Os though because our O is terrible and turned it over quickly?

Thanks for putting the info together and posting.

Pretty eye opening.

Also, the last 4 games really hurt the defensive stats with all of the injuries in play and basically a team that mailed it in. What did we finish with? 40+ PPg in that span?
Np! The last 4 games were 35.25 ppg allowed. The GT game helped drop the average down from the low 40’s.

Thank you.
Great info.

Not being a **** but the stats are a little skewed for the G5 programs vs power 5 because they don't play as many games.

But here's a stat which reinforces your post...
The team tied for the best in the nation in points per game vs p5 opponents?

Middle Tennessee State- 45 ppg.

How many total TDs did we score against Power 5 teams? That has to be an embarrassingly low number.

Just as an example...our 1st half drive chart against Pitt:
INT (returned to our 30)
INT (3 plays, 2 yds, 1:32)
PUNT (6 plays, 31 yds, 3:11)
PUNT (3 plays, -16 yds, 1:31)
FUMBLE (1 play, 9 yds, 0:10)
PUNT (3 plays, 4 yds, 1:28)
PUNT (5 plays, 5 yds, 2:06)
DOWNS (6 plays, 24 yds, 1:41)
END OF HALF

It's almost impressive how incompetent that is

So bad. Our D would look way better if we could hold onto the ball on O

Crazy thing, the offense hid a bad defense by staying on the field as long as they could. Otherwise, we would've had a lot more blow outs. I still give props to Steele for halftime adjustments. This defense was just not athletic enough to keep up.

Advanced stats

Epa margin 91st
Offense epa 90
Defesne epa 69

running game epa 117 horrble

RROE rush rate over expected basically how much more did we run the ball in any given situation than any other team in cfb 35th obviously were a run first team that cant run lol

And the most important of them all this is scary because you can go back over years and this is very telling last year fiu led this year before akron year before umass how we did against the spread and more importantly how much did we undeperform vegas expectations for the team

2-10-016.7%-3.2-10.7

We underperformed vegas expectations by 10.7 points per game to put this in perspective, The next closest team was northern illinois who were -6.7 points a 4 point per game difference we were theeeee worst in college football we need this to improve greatly

Here are some of the teams that over performed vegas expectations

Tcu
K st
ill
Duke
Vols
Ohio
Fla st
Tulane - always up there every year coach fritz now going to ga tech
Uconn

Some first year coaches there and what a job mora did at uconn unreal man came in without a team complete rebuild and lost roberson week 1
