Gattis' offensive output against P5 was basically 2 TDs and a FG per game. I'm not going to beat a dead horse anymore, everyone knows he needs to be let go.

Statistically this was basically the same defense from the previous 2 years. The defense did not regress but made no significant progress either.

The story that I see here is that in the course of 1 year we halved our offensive production which cost us an additional 2 games (7-5 vs 5-7). In my opinion we're paying way too much $ for these results. I like Steele but both him and Gattis need to be let go. Given the overhaul that needs to take place I would really like to see Mario hire 2 elite coordinators and let them hire their staffs as they see fit. I know there are some coaches on this staff we like but we really need to let the new coordinators pick the ingredients to coordinate the best offense and defense possible.

This is pretty damning, especially on the offensive side of the ball. We were basically a g5 team on that side of the ball.

I’m not locked on “keep Steele” but I don’t think if he is around next year he is going to cost us 6-7 games like our offense has.

No way to measure it but if we have an offense that avg even 30pts per game I think our def stats improve enough across the board that we look like an Acc champ game caliber team.

I hear you, I wouldn't hate it if he is retained. I think if we're going into full teardown mode might as well go get a hotshot commodity there and re-start. But like i said I wouldn't hate it if he is retained.

Imo, both the O & Def cost us some victories.

A&M - The Def kept us in; The Off refused to take advantage & wouldn’t cross the end zone for chit

MTSU - The Offense spotted MTSU a 17-0 lead. However, the Offense did respond by putting up 31 points; unfortunately, the defense allowed MTSU to match every single score we had. We scored 28 points, & the defense allowed 28 points to end the game.

Duke - Again, the offense struggled to start the game. However, they picked it up to take the lead, only for the def to give up 28 straight points

FSU - A collective effort

TAMU, Duke, & MTSU were all winnable games & either the O (TAMU) said please hold this W or the Def (MTSU/Duke) said we’ll show u how to really trick off a victory.

No one should be safe, period.

While I agree I also think there’s an intangible point missing when judging the defense.

Doesn’t matter what defense you have if your offense is inept at some point they break. I saw it with the early 2000’s dolphins, mid 2000’s canes, and in my opinion as early as the fsu game with this team.

I want to know how many times the defense was put in a terrible spot and gave up a TD because that happened a lot I feel. Also how many turnovers did our offense have? Anyone got these stats

Thanks for putting the info together and posting.

Pretty eye opening.

Also, the last 4 games really hurt the defensive stats with all of the injuries in play and basically a team that mailed it in. What did we finish with? 40+ PPg in that span?
