Honest question, but didnt Golden mention this when he was hired? At the press conference he pointed out how we had like 1 or none players no the ESPN 300 committed and that it was going to be one of his priorities to change that? If so, I would say that is a major improvement over where we were in 2011.
In all fairness, the 2011 class was an epic disaster, and probably one reason for some of our major struggles this year. That's not to say we dont have other major issues, but if he keeps this class mostly intact, and keeps recruiting like this, we are absolutely going to get better and be a competitive team. Wether or not he can take it to the next level is another question, but that's a pretty **** impressive list considering what he walked into in 2011.
That 2011 recruiting season turned the tide in the state. It got FSU the MNC and got us to where we are now. Mediocore. Look at the players FSU got in that 2011 class. It was the core of their championship team.
If Golden can make this team look like a legitimate top 25 team year in and year out then the elite recruits will start coming again.

Almost half our class, according to espn, are elite recruits.
How many 300s does FSU and UF have? How many did we have in 2008 and 2012? Curious.... At work.

2008 we had a decent amount. 2012 was not as many. On paper, this is AGs best class since he has been here, assuming he can keep most of it together.
Interesting to look at is how many players in each class are graded at 80 or better by ESPN by year. It steadily fell under Shannon, and has been steadily rising under Golden. I didn't count players who didn't Quailfy
2008 - 14
2009 - 7
2010 - 6
2011 - 3
2012 - 7
2013 - 9
2014 - 13

And this is what we were dealing with largely this year. 2010 and 2011 players. Those were horrible classes by UM standards. On TOP of that, think of players from those classes we lost, like Finnie, EJ, Paul, Terry, Storm Johnson, guys who could have had an impact. The upperclassmen ranks on this team were in horrible shape this year.

Correct!
2010 Top Ranked Commits
Storm Johnson (transfer)
David Perry (scrub)
Brandon Linder (solid pickup and arguably our best Lineman for the past 4years)
Kevin Nelson (bum)
Eduardo Clements (hurt for the majority of his career... never really contributed)
Tavadis Glenn (never qualified)
Latwan Anderson (quit/ disappeared)
Seantrell Henderson (possibly the most heralded recruit we signed, and huge disappointment overall)
