Film Review- Tommy Kennedy

Honestly, I saw issues with strength on his tape, but I discounted how much lesser the competition was. Meaning, if he was having issues with the strength of an FCS defensive line, I should've expected that to get exponentially worse at a place like Miami.

This analysis is a miss already. Officials are saying behind the scenes that Kennedy was not what they expected and that includes me. I had him as an average LT among the returning players in the ACC and that was way off. Definitely an evaluation to learn from.

Hopefully he works into better shape as the season goes along and still provides depth.

Props for taking your L like a man

For the S&C experts out there, how likely is it that Kennedy could get strong enough in 5 months to be effective, assuming all other aspects of his game are ACC-caliber? I know muscle work is all about establishing a core foundation and then layering, doesn't come overnight. Is it even possible to make such big strides in such a short time?

Very rare when anyone bumps their thread to admit they were wrong. Kudos to you!

I’m not. My main point is that we’ve only heard of him at Center. Let’s talk after he gets an opportunity at Tackle before saying he’s a bust. He might flourish at OT. If he’s a bust, cool it’s only a wasted scholly for 1 year.
This. Sounds like they are looking for a back up to Gaynor. I'll be interested to hear how he does at LT. If he's a bust it's not like we sacrificed anything for him.

They’ve already officially moved Scaife to LT, that should tell us they weren’t excited with Kennedy outside.

Ima wait til we see him in the spring game before passing judgment, but I did see a flabby white dude that looks like he's been playing against teddy bears for a while.

I mean, George Brown took 3 ******* years to ALMOST crack the starting lineup this year, and he was an LSU signee. I think Tommy just doesn't have enough time to transform.

You cant coach size, and the tape CLEARLY shows he's got great feet, but I suspect he gonna get teabagged when the bullets start flying.

If he really is that far behind and strength is the lone reason for him having to slide inside to center, I'm not sure he can improve this in 5 months to make him a starting LT. Can't forget that he was in college for 4 years already and has grown into his body. also, assume that he worked out multiple times a week at his former school. No this is not up to ACC standards in regards to training, but it's bad he comes in and is so overwhelmed. Obviously, if he's working hard, everything is possible.

Also just shows again how hard it is to scout olineman in HS and College

He can get stronger but ****.
Isn’t he at least 22 with 4 years of d1 strength training. It’s either mental or those dudes at Butler are training mf’ers on a bow flex.
There are dudes his age making nfl rosters. We should’ve gone JUCO looking for tackles.
Wait we did. Forgot about that one dude. Big loss in hindsight.

Do elaborate on who you mean by "officials"

I could be wrong but it seems to me that you choose to do analysis on longshots. Have you thought about doing your analysis on players that have a better chance at making an impact? Do you only do linemen?

My buddy coaches in that conference, they are a non-scholarship conference BTW. He's coached at big D1 schools before, he and others on the staff were pretty shocked he was being pursued by D1 teams. He heard that most teams wanted him as an emergency 1 year tackle depth. He will be competing for the LT job here, no good.
meanwhile had i seen this post i might have tempered by own enthusiasm for the pickup. lets hope we at least get a backup out of the guy.

Don't think it's a secret - CIS folks have a contact on staff
Thought it was just Petey, the former player that posts here, and family members of Hightower. Didn't think the CIS staff had inside pull

Only here for one year and hopefully we can get one of the underclassmen to step up enough to be a good backup for Scaife. Cannot blame the S&C as look at Zion Nelson from about 240 to almost 270 in the same amount of time. Heard that Nelson was about 260-270 in the bench now 330.

If Kennedy is still serious about competing at Miami this year, he needs to get with a personal trainer this summer and do some strength development mixed in with Army Ranger style training.
