Fight broke out during Canes practice.

Yep. I've heard several interviews with former pros who all said "whenever you hear 'players only meetings', that's NEVER a good thing and never amounts to anything"
Might not be terrible if we had some leadership on the team, but since we don’t, I’m sure it was a waste of time

Apparently punches were being thrown during Canes practice. One player almost decked a defensive assistant, so it must have been some battle.

Barry Jackson delivered that info so... Idk what to say rn, whether thats a good thing or a bad thing.

edit: mr. 15-0 told me to add something, so here: if the coach would have been decked, it would have been an accident. he tried to break it up and almost got popped himself (which is why i dont go into fights)

reason why they fought is because they ran sprints for penalties. if you dont show full effort, the whole group that you are in has to run the sprints all over again. some players apparently didnt, hence the fight.

player meeting happened afterwards, without the coaches being present. manny made another stupid comparison after that meeting that i dont even want to quote here...
Maybe they listened to Antrel Rolle on the Behind the U podcast. "Go out there and play like a f@ck!ng wild man".

This isn’t a normal practice fight. This is guys calling teammtes out for quitting and being a bad leader , the one doing it had no business saying a word. He’s supposed to be a leader and he cares more about partying . Not watching film and constantly joking like a 14 year old. Theres a reason I keep posting this is a full on toxic **** show. I’ve been saying this since aftrr ASU.
Yet he still plays in games, great culture Manny has for this team.

I hear you. To me, Fights are fights - whether guys don’t like getting beat, personal beefs spilling onto the field and maybe into the lockeroom again - all that happens. Anyway, we all know the team and leadership are toxic but to me, the fight is not news.

They make jokes about how bad they’re going to get beat , they also make jokes on the coaches and the scheme. You’d think they were posters here. That’s real talk.

My sophomore year of college we were a top 25 team in the country in baseball.. loaded with upperclassmen... and we started out with 3 road trips against other top 25 programs and we started 1-8. Had a private team meeting and it did nothing. I think we slipped down to like 12-25 and had another private team meeting and hashed it out. Some guys wrestled because they called each other out.. and we reeled off like 17 in a row, won the conference tournament, and then lost twice in regionals. Got where we should have been to start with.

Only time I've seen it work. Didn't work the first time and actually got worse after that first meeting. As a coach i heard about a few private team meetings and if they happened.. they didn't do anything.

Wow, this is depressing. Is there any player on the team who commands respect and can unify this team, @Alex Jones? King? Someone else?

To the contrary this is a sign of players taking the lead. I don't know if this is Manny first attempt at punishing units for the slipshod effort of one person, but this does work. Slack players will raise their level of play or become isolated and eventually transfer.

Nothing wrong with putting pressure on the players to put pressure on the players.
Nah. What you're talking about only works when you have strong leadership in place - and not just the coach. If it were upperclassmen fighting the young guys for slack effort ahead of a big game when the season still has meaning, then I'd agree with you.

Don't kid yourself. This is only the beginning of the team unravelling.
