Fernando Mendoza

Mendoza would’ve been the best option after Mateer and a perfect bridge to Nickel after 2 years based on how Mario went about the process.

Mendoza was probably the 3rd or 4th best QB in the portal.
What a ******* idiot!!!!!

He was the best Quarterback in the portal and still not the bridge to Nickel.

He’s not wrong?

Did you read the post? He was talking about relying on him to get you into the CFP and that he would sell you beach front property in Iowa if you believed Mendoza could get you there.

Well, he won the Championship.

It had nothing to do with his numbers or how good of a QB he may be or not be.

You created a whole different argument.

I remember getting lots of down votes for Callibg Mario an idiot for passing on him esp to take Beck . He was the. Best qb in the portal imo . When he played us at cal he was tossing darts
He was 11-22 against that defense. About half his yards were on 2 swing passes to RBs and the other 2 were designed plays that hit to wide open receivers (Hill and Powell trying to keep up). Mendoza is a one read QB. If that’s not there he panics and either throws it away, gets sacked, or takes off running. It’s why he was so successful running the RPO game with Indiana.

Biggest mistake made in the natty were all the free throws we gave in the first half. Believe he was like 13-17 in the first half. Ended up 4-10 in the second for like 60 yards and we sacked him 3x bringing 4 guys a lot. Take away those first half throws and we win that game. Their receivers didn’t have the speed to consistently get separation and he isn’t a multiple read guy.

Such a weird coached game in first half by both Dawson and Hetherman.. Ill just say we gave them a little too much respect.. :snoopfacepalm:

He played better than Becca did . He scored the td when needed Beck chocked

While we did some RPO with Cam it’s not a staple of Dawson’s offense. Mendoza was a perfect fit for that Indiana offense, ours not so much. We don’t make it to the finals with him as our QB IMO.
**** Beck would have did what he did vs Indian we wouldn’t have made it either . We was at the mercy of is Beck going to be on or
Off today.

Beck was actually fine, except for that last throw. 19-32 232. First half Dawson got into his tendencies and we didn’t do anything with the ball running or throwing. Got hosed with some PIs but whatever. Second half he throws for 160+ when Dawson starts mixing things up.

I still don’t know why we respected their pass attack in the first half as much as we did. All year long any team that took away the RPO run and played their receivers tight they held him largely in check. Should have pressed all game and forced him to throw the ball a whole lot more than he did. As we saw in the second half when we pressed we got pressure on him and he panicked. Turned an 70% passer into a 40%. Every play they were successful on was a drawn up play….the back shoulders and the QB draw. He isn’t reading that. That’s what ****es me off the most.
