He was 11-22 against that defense. About half his yards were on 2 swing passes to RBs and the other 2 were designed plays that hit to wide open receivers (Hill and Powell trying to keep up). Mendoza is a one read QB. If that’s not there he panics and either throws it away, gets sacked, or takes off running. It’s why he was so successful running the RPO game with Indiana.
Biggest mistake made in the natty were all the free throws we gave in the first half. Believe he was like 13-17 in the first half. Ended up 4-10 in the second for like 60 yards and we sacked him 3x bringing 4 guys a lot. Take away those first half throws and we win that game. Their receivers didn’t have the speed to consistently get separation and he isn’t a multiple read guy.
