It's nice to know so many of you concerned about fashion and how we look rather than winning and spending money on the program.
Matt Porter reported that the switch to Adidas can and will indeed hurt w/ recruiting and merchandise sales. Michigan experience the same thing after their switch. He also stated that the tweet that went out stated that 8/10 people prefer Nike over Adidas. We were the first school to do exclusives rights with an apparel company 27 years ago...we started this trend and that trend was w/ and only has been w/ Nike. Literally the two go hand and hand...it makes no difference if we get more upfront money when our back end money will be dried up. This admin knows no bounds of tradition.
They are treating this deal like the Golden deal. They look at Golden buy out as saving up front money, when we will be f&&ked on the back end money (ticket sales, bigger bowl game pay-outs, conference championship game pay outs, etc.) This Admin knows nothing about anything...you think keeping Golden and his record was hurting recruiting...just wait until we keep Golden and we stop dawning the swoosh.
Porter reported that a switch to Adidas will hurt recruiting? Did he do a scientific study on it?
I hate Adidas, first they *** up the NBA and now they coming after my Canes. The U is about swag, nothing cool about Adidas.
Lol I've said in the entire thread that I don't care what we do. It's the same material w a different logo on it. I own Nike stuff Adidas stuff reebok stuff converse stuff. If it looks good and for a good price, I really don't care. I'm not as obsessed w buying from a particular brand for clothes that you can't wear in the real world as you guys are.Would take UA over adidas if that's what it's coming to. But Nike is the best hands down, guess it's time to start buying all the Nike UM gear I can. I won't be buying anything adidas.
u really hate adidas that much that u wont buy a shirt w a U on it? lol u working for nike or something? the same asian family made both shirts anyways
I own adidas stuff, I just don't like their football gear. Is adidas paying your bills or something? Their shell toes and track jackets are classic, but their football jerseys are always so bland.

6-6 record......
****ty last 10 years.
But yea, I'm sure Adidas is going to be why recruits don't come.

Its just going to be one more thing that handcuffs us in recruiting these elite kids against all the other Nike teams who also have much more to offer when it comes to better coaching, facilities, on campus stadiums, game day atmosphere, producing high NFL picks(which we haven't done in years) etc...
It is just one more reason for kids to not want to come here.
Remember we are talking about kids here, this type of **** 100% matters to them and some kids have even already come out saying they will not go to a non Nike school.

Wouldn't go to a non-Nike school? Don't think we need that kind of ******.
It's hilarious to see all of these people believing that it would improve our football program. The naivety is almost child-like. The only way that 3 million translates into wins is using it to buy out Golden. Anyone who really believes that the money will be used for that...So many people saying "well if that $3 mill goes to buying out Golden's contract"
Guess what, with this administration who stands behind Golden will just spread that money around and I can almost guarantee you that it will not go to buying out Golden's contract.
You guys know this administration is just greedy and really could care less about being a competitive football program, so I fully expect that $3 mill to be spread around the entire university if not at least all of our sports programs.
This would not be $3 mill to the football program.
I could care less if my Canes t shirt is Addidas or Nike, but you know who cares if we wear nike cleats, gloves, uniforms, visors etc...?
Recruits, and they are the ones that matter.

lol wonder what theyre going to do when theyre not allowed to wear Beats in the NFL. go to the AFL?
You guys don't get it.
We already have a hard enough time trying to attract top recruits to UM.
Now we want to set it up so we are no longer on an even playing field with the rest of the Elite programs in college football when it comes to who outfits our program?
Some of you old farts might not be able to wrap your heads around this, but playing for a Nike school does matter to these KIDS.
This thread is hilarious. Of all the problems plaguing this program right now, the uniform manufacturer is the least of my concerns. I'm pretty sure at least 3 of the top 10 schools in the current 2015 recruiting rankings are Adidas schools.
