Fermaninator says get your Adidas Cane gear

Agree with this.

And here is the thing, if we had a competent administration (which we don't) this would be a dream come true. The 4 million extra could go to 2 mill a year more for a big time HC and the other 2 mill to increase the assistant salary. 4.5 million a year at Miami is all of a sudden a very very attractive job.

The $3 million would be spread across all sports at UM, football would get a portion, not the whole thing.

If it was $3 million directly to the football program and we knew that they would use it to upgrade our coaching staff and/or build an indoor practice facility, then I'm sure more would be behind this.

But you know how incompetent this administration is and we all know that turning around our football program is not a priority for them.

Their greedy a$$es are fine taking their $3million while sinking this program further into mediocrity with all the other Adidas teams.

Its 3 million extra not 3 million and i cant believe Miami fans are crying about a damm logo, Nike been making money off our U brand for to long the market has changed they have to pay the market value or we take our brand elsewhere. plus Adidas just stole 2 of Nike best Designers and i think they own the rights to that skin tight design because it seems like they gear fits tighter then Nike and UA, And if Kansas got 6 million we could most definitely get 8.

Top 3 designers.

Nike is suing them now right?

IDK wtf this school is thinking if we switch from Nike, someway or the other, this will affect us in recruiting with the other florida schools uf fsu being nike. Just another way someone can recruit against us. Its not always about money, if we get rid of this ****ty coach and AD and hire someone who will bring excitement to the program money will be brought in regardless. Fans want to be associated with winners and pay to see excitement not a **** poor performance. Being one of the first schools to sign with Nike is a great accomplishment and tradition. All the greats who went through this program rocked nike. Why take another thing away just goes to show we have bigger issues than are coaches.

That's an odd looking swoosh on the Mr. Sapp's right pant leg. Ray agrees.

I've never cared about brand. If it looks decent, fits well, and doesn't fall apart, I'll buy it. And Nike is usually the most expensive stuff in the store so that's usually the last rack I go to and I usually don't even make it that far. You might even say I'm anti-Nike because of the prices they charge for the same shirt you can buy less from a cheaper brand.

Here's a quote from the Michigan Daily dated July 18, 2010 regarding the switch from Nike to Adidas....

"The shift from Nike to Adidas was also a huge change. For fans, seeing a different symbol on a jersey isn’t anything special, but for athletes it’s a big adjustment. Sizes, fit, comfort, color and durability are all crucial to being able to play your sport well. With Nike, every team had figured out what they liked and disliked, and they could make small adjustments in their gear from year to year. But Adidas specializes in soccer and football gear, so things like volleyball shoes and jerseys presented new challenges.

Nike also copyrighted the color “Maize,” so Adidas actually had to make a new version of our school color, now known as “Sun” (which the volleyball team has affectionately dubbed the “highlighter” jerseys). While the switch has become progressively easier throughout the past two years, it’s come with growing pains."

That's some hard hitting **** right there. The volleyball team didn't love the different shade of yellow? Down with Adidas!

This from ASU:

Schools often take less money to stay with Nike because Nike is seen as a stronger brand to many fans and recruits. It may seem irrational, but there are recruits that eliminate schools based on the clothing contract. Five-star basketball recruit Antonio Blakeney de-committed from Louisville this year because of its ties with Adidas. His top 3 now consists of Kentucky, LSU and Missouri -- all Nike schools.

http://www.courier-journal.com/stor...ies-shoe-company-influence-decision/16982911/

From the linked article regarding Blakeney, a reasonable person might conclude the coach is steering the kid because of THE COACH'S RELATIONSHIP WITH NIKE, more so than the kid's "brand preference" ...
Of course. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Basketball recruiting is all kinds of shady. Street agents, coaches, and shoe companies are all in bed together. 18 year old kids are not making the most important decision of their life based on a fashion statement. Think about how ridiculous that sounds. It's all about endorsement deals.

EXACTLY!!!!

Lol it took 22 pages to establish that a bunch of you are sheeple and will buy anything with a Nike swoosh on it

View attachment 28212

Those same "sheeple", make Nike and those attached a lot of money, so does that fruit electronics company. What's it name again? Don't get me started on Starbucks.

I would believe that if money is the root of this move, then Nike would stay in place. That "3 million" is table scraps compared to what would have been if we win 3 to 5 more games this season.

i didnt bold anything, i didnt even make the original post, just giving a response to your nike worship. the point is guys like sapp and other great football players have the same ability no matter what logo they are wearing, nike means nothing to miami fans only the U logo does.

He didn't bold it. He didn't comment about it. I did. Get your facts right. The point still stands that they're wearing Russell Athletic brand uniforms.

Just because you buy a jersey doesn't mean you guys gotta wear Adidas shoes too. It's a dam jersey. I'm sure you guys already have all the Miami shorts and shirts you need. So if you see a shirt you like and it's Adidas, you buy it. I'm not a fan of Adidas, but not seeing why it really matters.
Only problem is if they have some ****ty *** design on the new Uni's.

To me, switching from Nike, the unquestioned #1 in this game, to the ridiculously mediocre Adidas seems like a culmination of everything we believe to be wrong with UM right now.

It's not just the Swoosh. Something we have been known for and kind of pioneered, we're going away from for convenience that doesn't make sense. The money ain't going toward buying out Golden, and I doubt it will upgrade facilities, and it's a long way away from building us a stadium.

Adidas sucks. Harry at All Canes I'm sure is one ticked off man if this happens. Nike gear is his main squeeze. If it switches to Adidas, so help him God.

It screams mediocrity man. This would be catastrophic. I think some of you are looking at this the wrong way.

DHucks...I read somewhere recently that when Michigan switched to Adidas, one of their long time retailers who's sales were based upon jerseys and nike paraphernalia went out of business b/c his sales dropped...

His sales dropped because they ****ing suck..

actually you are partly right, but the other part was b/c of branding...it may be true or not (probably is true since Adidas is trying to steal Nike's ideas) but people associate Nike as the superior company and Adidas as an inferior one. You have folks are definitely pro-Adidas, but the majority are pro-Nike. Nike aligns itself w/ champions...they are top dog. That's why they aligned themselves w/ us 27 years ago. It's all about perception...that's the power of marketing.

Didn't know smoke was a school color

Smoke is different. It's a neutral color, and neutral colored unis are made for schools all the time. The point I'm trying to make is that Adidas made those uniforms above for Louisville and the color is some orange/pink hybrid that isn't even remotely close to the red they use for their uniforms.

It's not that big of a deal to me if Miami goes with Adidas, I just don't want them making unis like those Louisville ones where the team ends up wearing neon orange and neon green unis looking more suited for a rave, than a football game.

do the schools not have any say in this? i have no idea how it works, but i would imagine UM has the final say and stamp of approval. so if adidas comes up with crap designs and colors that arent ours, couldnt we just say no and specify the colors have to be right?

If Nike does not match the Adidas deal, I wouldn't blame Nike one bit...

Miami is still a brand name, but we cannot even win the Coastal.

LOL ok now I know who I'm dealing with...

My point it moot when the entire ****** kit is branded with Russell? I'm done with you. More sheep to take out to slaughter. Hilarious that you guys get this butthurt over the brand of uniform...when Adidas actually makes some great looking kits that perform the exact same.

that's the thing w/ switching to a new company...yes, UM can say no, but you're putting Adidas behind the eight ball in creating something quick...you go through a growing pain in sizes, comfort, materials, and designs for about 2-3 years b/c they don't have a handle on your likes. While a long time partner, like Nike...well they are already working on designs well before and if you don't like, they have an option A, B, C, D, E, F and G already lined up...plus, they already know your vision. That pretty much happens everytime a school switches endorses, though.
