Just because you buy a jersey doesn't mean you guys gotta wear Adidas shoes too. It's a dam jersey. I'm sure you guys already have all the Miami shorts and shirts you need. So if you see a shirt you like and it's Adidas, you buy it. I'm not a fan of Adidas, but not seeing why it really matters.
Only problem is if they have some ****ty *** design on the new Uni's.

To me, switching from Nike, the unquestioned #1 in this game, to the ridiculously mediocre Adidas seems like a culmination of everything we believe to be wrong with UM right now.

It's not just the Swoosh. Something we have been known for and kind of pioneered, we're going away from for convenience that doesn't make sense. The money ain't going toward buying out Golden, and I doubt it will upgrade facilities, and it's a long way away from building us a stadium.

Adidas sucks. Harry at All Canes I'm sure is one ticked off man if this happens. Nike gear is his main squeeze. If it switches to Adidas, so help him God.

It screams mediocrity man. This would be catastrophic. I think some of you are looking at this the wrong way.

THIS RIGHT ******* HERE^^^^

Second class gear for a second class progrum.

Yep. Anyone who thinks differently is a moron. Horrible decision from the school.

DHucks long post had it on the money.

It's symbolic. It's not so much Nike and Adidas, but what it's symbolizing. Miami at one point was top of the world football wise, so Nike naturally would fit the bill as they're on top of their world as well. To move away from that speaks to how the athletics are viewed right now. Adidas ain't nothing, forget all the sheep talk. Affluent folks don't trade their Mercedes E Class for a Hyundai Equus. It's not becoming of who they are. The University of Miami is NOT becoming of f'n Adidas. Adidas is a step above Russell.

dude, that's exactly the point. nike is known to associate w/ winners. LBJ, Jordan, Kobe, Pippen, Bo Jackson, Magic Johnson, Lance Armstrong (before he was found guilty), Adrian Peterson, Tiger Woods, USC, Alabama, LSU....etc, etc. Nike attached itself to us b/c we WERE winners. Adidas and UA are over paying to attach themselves to something while Nike has always symbolized winner. The fact that we are even considering an off brand (and I say off brand b/c Adidas is a Euro Sport Shoe, not American Sports) says a lot about the state of our athletic dept. We are stepping down our global branding for a shot at a couple of more millions. Fact is NIKE DOMINATES the sports world...NIKE DOMINATES Internationally too. DRose signs this huge contract w/ Adidas, right...but his shoes ain't selling. Why? B/c he has to contend w/ LBJ's and KD's and Jordan's and Kobe's and throw back Jordan's b/c they dominate the shoe industry...that's the power of Nike...now, we'll be losing a little of that influence.

Do you understand global marketing? I do, b/c that's what my degree is in and my current occupation for my company. Nike is viewed as superior, mainly b/c they hold more shoe pattents than any other shoe company and also nike has always aligned itself w/ the best of the best...nike aligned itself w/ us, in the college world, b/c we WERE the best of the best...the fact that we may no longer be associated w/ the best of the best, as far as global sports branding, it says a lot about our program. Tennessee is taking less money from Nike to switch from Adidas....why do you think they would do that?

Is it confirmed yet?

No...we're just speculating b/c every report says that more than likely this and that. Nike is still considering to counter offer, which from my frat brother who's a marketer for Nike Global said they are truly considering just based upon loyalty alone. It's just like when everyone reported that KD to UA was a done deal just to find out that Nike amped up it's money to sign KD. I, personally think we may stay w/ Nike...and I truly feel that Blake may be trying to get a little more money from them b/c in all honesty, Nike has been under paying a lot of schools (including us) just b/c they have that luxury...their brand sells itself and they don't need to shell out the loot that a start up company like UA needs to or a Euro company who's trying to make noise in American Sports like Adidas.

if we stay w nike then we have to get rid of the jerseys. they were an abortion like the HC. if u read the WEZ thread, the adidas **** they sent the school is actually going to be sick and an upgrade.

The only reason I can see this making a difference is that alot of people are brainwashed by Nike, including recruits...now that I think about it my point kind of works against itself. Funny how things work out lol

this is what its about. a ton of people spouting functionality r stupid and brainwashed. its all the same but like riley has been saying, 17 year olds are dummies and they think nike is the king and the better product even tho it isn't. oh well, lets see what nike does and if they want us they'll match but if were getting a lot more from adidas and better looking stuff (see WEZ) then go w adidas. ill buy UM gear even if we were starter bc i dont buy UM gear based on the manufacturer, i buy it based on the U

DHucks...I read somewhere recently that when Michigan switched to Adidas, one of their long time retailers who's sales were based upon jerseys and nike paraphernalia went out of business b/c his sales dropped...

Here's a quote from the Michigan Daily dated July 18, 2010 regarding the switch from Nike to Adidas....

"The shift from Nike to Adidas was also a huge change. For fans, seeing a different symbol on a jersey isn’t anything special, but for athletes it’s a big adjustment. Sizes, fit, comfort, color and durability are all crucial to being able to play your sport well. With Nike, every team had figured out what they liked and disliked, and they could make small adjustments in their gear from year to year. But Adidas specializes in soccer and football gear, so things like volleyball shoes and jerseys presented new challenges.

Nike also copyrighted the color “Maize,” so Adidas actually had to make a new version of our school color, now known as “Sun” (which the volleyball team has affectionately dubbed the “highlighter” jerseys). While the switch has become progressively easier throughout the past two years, it’s come with growing pains."

It really isn't about the fit or the feel. I think it's more about the designs. Look at the coaches polos and t shirts and track jackets and shorts and all that stuff. Nike always has superior designs. Especially with some of the word they have. "The U Know". "Basketball Never Stops". All those different designs are dope.

not gonna disagree w u there (outside of the jerseys bc they've given us terrible designs over the last 10 years). i was just making fun of the people who use functionality as their reasoning for nike lol. the same chinese child laborer made all three shirts (UA, Adi, Nike) out of the same fabric. i understand the fact that nike is a popular brand and brainwashed kids will only wear certain brands. i just dont think sales will stop bc of the brand change esp since most people i know buy UM gear bc of the UM branding not bc of the brand on the tag.

Idk man. I think switching to Adidas will make it easier for me to not buy stuff. Not a fan of Adidas. I really like our new jerseys too. I think Adidas will disappoint us.

I agree, I was just about to post that I really like alot of Nike stuff. It all comes down to the design of the individual product, especially when it's doing something functional. Nike makes some nice shoes and some bad shoes, same with adidas and UA. All of them could produce a badass look for the U brand.
