I REALLLLLY hope their Oline issues are true and even worse than expected because you would think with their skill guys, experience, and 2nd year in system they could be in line for a really good offense. Obviously their qb is a wildcard, they dont ask him to do much but he finished year on high note which allowed him to go into offseason with confidence and knowledge that he was the leader.
Like mentioned earlier if you watch enough of their O, its mullens/urban system all the way (spread to run, option with running qb to grease the wheels). I would even say they have guys who do their best Tebow/Harvin impressions in Felipe/Coney. Both are lesser versions but you can see it. They have some solid experienced guys at the skill position. They have a bunch of WR (Jefferson, Cleveland, Hammond, Swain, Grimes, etc.) that contribute in their system. Jefferson is their #1, They look to get Grimes the ball too. Swain is probably their big play guy. Perine is the workhorse at RB, solid player with experience and Kadarius Toney is athlete who plays Harvin role that they move around and get him ball all over field, running, catching, wildcat, etc. He jumps out on film and is explosive with ball in hands.
Their o is mainly run, they want to spread to run and then will have restraint plays to keep you honest with numbers in box (screens, swing passes, slants) They dont ask much of qb, he also runs the ball pretty effectively (they dont need much from him, maybe 3 yards on 3rd n short or down in redzone). Anytime on film he is asked to make reads or take a deeper drop he panics or makes a bad throw. Their offense is to control the ball and stay ahead of chains. They usually play with lead which also allows to stay in gameplan. Most passes are quick screens, swings, slants, curls, maybe a out a occasional post. Surprisingly they didnt take many shots deep which used to be a staple in the Urban/Tebow era with louis murphy, riley cooper and Harvin. Maybe they add it to offense if the qb develops but its not on film from last season.
Im hoping we can stuff the run and take away the easy screen yards from them, force them to have to put the game in their qb hands. Obviously with us replacing most of DBs he could still be efficient but that is best case. Their O isnt scary but Perine is good effective and I would think they will use Coney more this season, have to account for him at all times. Might watch Defense next but wanted to see what their O looked like because of buzz they have gotten. They replace alot of oline but unlike us they arent freshman tackle types and seem to have been in program, with the way they run their O, they can be hidden as arent doing 5 step drops and asked to hold blocks. I hope the replacements suck and we can eat
