"A judge ruled against the NCAA on Friday night in a federal antitrust lawsuit, saying football and basketball players should be permitted to receive more compensation from schools but only if the benefits are tied to education.

The ruling Friday night from U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken in Oakland, California, said the NCAA cannot "limit compensation or benefits related to education." That means more scholarship money to pursue postgraduate degrees or finish undergraduate degrees and items that could be considered school supplies such as computers."

That's small-time thinking. You give them parking spaces, you don't want them late to class because they couldn't find a spot. Just one more educational expense. I don't know man. We tell boys they should play sports because it teaches valuable life lessons, but then we tell girls not to because nobody wants to pay to watch their games. So they don't need to learn those lessons and have those experiences because their sports don't make money?

I guess maybe it is a liberal thing, but I think those opportunities should be available to all kids. It's one of those small things that makes society slightly better. Sometimes it's worth sacrificing the belief that only money matters in service to the greater good.

Similar arguments about many other things are always used to take money from people and use it to gain power. The greater good is serious dog whistle for fascists and commies of all stripes. By the way, both were very strong on females doing sports and still are. That doesn’t mean that a parent that wants his girls to play sports are either, but I am suspicious of politicians and power mongers when they are.

Lots of schools have been force to drop any number of male sports because they could not afford to match them up with sports for women. Ever hear any cries for those guys. I am more a Cane fan than a sports fan, but that does seem unfair.

We have two and two with our kids and slight edge to girls among the 16 grandkids. I don’t care one way or the other about which plays what or not, but I will point out that men and women are fundamentally different. It is not sound to assume that both are impacted the same by anything. They might be but the safer assumption is they are not until proven they are.

I am glad that more women get scholarships now because of sports. Now watch what happens soon as the political left mores on to newer pastures. Those ships will start to get eaten up but trans and identification as females guys that can’t cut it against the boys. The left always leaves people behind when they are done using them.

Politicians are constantly telling you that the left wants to steal your money and you're cool with that presumably because you think that's true. And maybe they are. But it's also true that the right wants to scare you into giving up your privacy so they can control you that way. Both sides want to control you, it's just that you're more comfortable with one type of control than another. Most of us are.

The money argument about college sports is crazy.

I think it’s great that the NCAA has built their money makers up to the point where they can subsidize the other sports and lower divisions at better levels.

That’s the idea behind joining together. What’s good for most is best for all.

Wasn’t really all that long ago that the college sports were all regional, with the exception of a few national brands. Now every school can be a national brand. And that’s all thanks to the promotion the NCAA has done over decades.

Stick to pro sports if you think the NCAA is too much like socialism. That way you don’t have to worry about Title 9, or unfair wage practices, or those dag on subsidies.

I wasn’t trying to imply you are a fascist or commie. In fact the only thing I can tell is that you have daughters and want all you can get for them. I swim in that pool too. You are dead right that both political sides use the same issues to steal power. The privacy issue is huge. The left use to talked about protecting it but the biggest attack on it now cemes from them and the left leaning teck companies. Of course the right use 911 to rip our privacy rights to pieces. The truth is that both policial parties want the same thing, power and government is how they get it. The bigger the better regardless of what either says.

As Canes we are use to both sides hating us. Only we love us. We remain the true outsider. They is an old saying, a son is a son until he takes a wife, but a daughter is a daughter forever. This goes over really well with the National Championship winning Men's Crew, Diving and (individual) Golf teams.

None of which now exist due to Title IX.

UM doesn't even compete in Women's Softball. Want to know why?

Nobody gives a **** enough about it to lobby for it (especially the women).

If we're gonna 86 great Men's programs for Women's, at least compete in the major ones.
