Favorite Canes Gators memory/moment

For me (and probably most on here) it's Devin Hester KR TD and it's not close. Curious to see what others would stack up against it.

1. 1986 - my first UM game ever, and the last ANNUAL UM-UF game in Hogtown. The Gator fans were shaking their keys before kickoff. Being new to their "traditions", I thought it was a swipe at the fact that we had 4 players suspended for the first half for having below-market auto leases. Later, I found out the shaking-of-the-keys is something the Gator fans did to all opponents. Miami won the game.

2. 1987 - the final ANNUAL UM-UF game ever. Very famous for the final score, 31-4, where our long-snapper gave up TWO safeties with snaps over the punter's head. Also, the beginning of our first undefeated national championship season, and JJ's first ring.

1980. After OL coach Chris Vagotis got hit in the head with an orange, Howard kicked a fg with Canes up 28-7, making it 31-7. Afterward, he said he did it because he wanted the media to come ask him why he kicked the fg instead of kneeling.

87, Kerwin Bell's Heisman campaign, "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Not Kerwin on this day, 15-33, 0 TD's, 3 interceptions, 3 dropped snaps and sacked 5 times. 31-4! Dominating them as had been done for a decade and a proper ending for those cowards. They chose FSU because they couldn't beat Miami, who they had been playing 20 years longer and fittingly, played each other for the Seminole War Canoe Trophy. Probably still throwing Gator fans through glass doors and windows in 87.

I attended both those games. My first game (in person) was the season opener in 1983 at Florida. I was a frosh at UM and drove up to Hogtown to party with friends. We lost that game 28-3 in Kosar’s first start; however, we went on to win the remaining games on our schedule and ultimately beat Nebraska in the Orange Bowl for our first national championship. It was the start of a glorious run and incredible undergraduate experience.
