Offense - Willis McGahee. That 2002 season he had starting with the first game I attended vs UF where he had 204 yards all the way to the tragic end against OSU in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl was special. Best season ever by a Canes RB.
Defense - ST26. I’ve never seen a more talented, physically imposing, skilled, harder-hitting DB in my lifetime! He was almost not human. Ed Reed would be a close 2nd for me. He wasn’t the most talented or physically imposing but he was by far the smartest DB I’ve ever seen play and I’ve never seen another DB that had the knack to make the big play more than ER.
To think that I went to school at UM with all of the aforementioned players during the last “golden era” at The U is still a tremendous source of pride for me.
