FANS BACK IN STANDS

Zero chance of that. Now there will be people in the stand but it will be at 20-50% at least til the 2021 season .

Can’t speak to the entire country but for open-air stadiums in Texas you can bet on 100% capacity this fall unless things dramatically deteriorate.

State governments are going to keep easing restrictions, but I have a hard time seeing them allowing massive gatherings of people anytime soon. The hysteria over the virus has (thankfully) passed, but we still need to be very careful not to allow the pandemic to blow back up and overwhelm hospitals. From here on out, it's all about walking that tightrope so that things don't get out of control. I think even states like Alabama and Mississippi realize that a major flare-up would be a bad situation and require another shutdown -- and we need to avoid that no matter what.

Unfortunately, that means that packed stadiums are probably not going to happen this year (although I could definitely see some limited capacity attendance). It's a bummer, but ultimately I'm MUCH more concerned that the season actually happens than fans being able to attend. I'd take a full season on TV over a shortened season with fans in the stands any day.

Well its starting to deteriorate.

I’m not a lawyer, but your example makes my point. They still continued holding races even after the accidents. Yes, a few people might sue, but I’m sure people sue for drunken slips and falls, too. And it would be an awfully hard thing to prove anyway.

But as I said, it’s a dream that I’m holding onto. And if we are down to really low infection levels by fall, I wouldn’t necessarily count out some type of spectator capacity control system. Let’s see what happens.

Yeah, I get your point, I just wanted to mention that the "hold harmless" language would not really hold up.

I desperately want us to get back to full capacity, but (unlike what the MAGA crowd says) this isn't a political issue. It's just a health issue.

Although, to be honest, I do think it would be somewhat funny to see a fight break out at the UM-F$U game because some people are wearing masks and some are not. It would be a refreshing departure from the normal drunken fighting that breaks out during the game.

Absolutely. Just let me see King in Orange and Green, dammit!!!

you know we have to make room for all organizations to be involved including the National guard right? Plus we will set some kind of attendance record while demolishing some poor opponent on our home turf!
You have turned doubting Thomas to a believer. Hallelujah!!!
Go Canes!!!!

First, it’s June and not August. Second, Texas’ statewide death toll is amazingly low (less than 2k) and per capita the positive rate is about 226 per 100k - drastically under most states. It will have to be a much more significant disruption later in the summer to change things.
