Im not even a Mario hater I’m just a Mario stator. People in here defending him like he doesn’t have flaws all over the place is hilarious to me . They’ll find one game where another coach lost as a big favorite then leave off Mario has far more lol. Like it’s apples to apples , it’s more like six crates of apples to a small bag of apples.

I get aggravated at both sides of the Mario pendulum because I’m normally in the middle. But I will say the mopes do shut up when things are good but right when Mario pulls a Mario the slurpers go into full excuse mode . The same excuses they’ve been using for four years . Yes Mario has done a better job than our recent head coaches but let’s not act like he hasn’t been afforded far more financial backing than our last few coaches combined. Which is the key to the game. The financial backing has allotted him the right to keep messing up hires then just making them go away. He’s able to throw money at his mistakes.

Brother, it's exhausting. Just call it what it is.

Mario has 9 years as a HC between OU and UM. We know who he is at this point, nothing is changing that.

And I do find it funny when his defenders compare him to Diass, Richt, Golden, Shannon. Like you said, he has 100x the resources those guys did combined. He better perform better than them.

With that being said, I still don't believe he is performing inline with what has been invested. We are likely missing the ACCG yet again (we aren't even talking winning it) after 4 years with the highest paid roster and staff in the ACC. If we can't make the ACCCG, what happens when we move to the BIG10?

Anyhow, hoping we win out and make the playoffs. He misses that again, ooof, will be interesting to hear the next set of excuses.

Manny, Al, Randy, Larry for any of those who think there’s better. I leave out Coach Richt out of respect but ultimately he was at the very tail end of his career.

Some may have forgotten or never experienced it but this was a mediocre job for ages due to the admin, $$$, etc.

People were saying the same thing about Kirby “not so smart” at a program with vastly more resources and commitment until very recently.

I’d say I can’t wait until what’s said when we’re in the CFP but I realize many would belly ache anyways.

We are 3-0 against ranked opponents this season. Love showing vast improvement and wanting the coach fired anyway.

You think FSU is a quality win? Will you still see it as that if they finish 4-8, 5-7?

I never said I wanted him fired. But I wouldn't mind if he was gone.

Vast improvement to me is not what you consider it. Not losing to teams you should beat is an improvement. Making and winning the ACC is improvement. Making the playoffs is an improvement.

I’m not going to call for Mario to go unless an epic collapse happens. We need to calibrate our thinking.

Positives Mario has dramatically increased the talent floor here. The S&C and development has upticked as well. Now these were very low bars to climb. But it’s still a drastic improvement from the last 20 years.

Gameday there’s obviously a ton left to be desired. But in the same vein, Mario was year too early with Cam and a year too late with the defense. Had the same level of urgency been placed on the defense two off seasons ago we might have more trophies sitting in display cases. That means imo Mario can win here. But it’ll have to fall into place. More likely we hover at 9-3, 10-2 and then have the 13-0 blip than do what Bama, OSU and UGA do.

We also gotta remember, three coaches in CFB currently have titles to their credit. That doesn’t give Mario leeway, it’s just incredibly difficult to win the whole thing. Does losing dumb games like last Friday suck? Absolutely. But ND lost to NIU last year and was a blown coverage away from possibly winning the whole thing. In today’s game, and with financial commitments the school has given Mario for players, resources and coaches, I legitimately think he can win. But it’s just going to have to land in place at the perfect time unfortunately.

Facts are word salads for the Mario Avengers

You must have me confused with someone else. Mario is exactly who I thought he would be.

Doesn’t make your preposterous statement about winning games so easily any less ridiculous. Every Saturday proves that.

You’re just focused on one man, who incidently is 15-3 over the last two seasons, and have no clue what’s going on in the rest of college football

15-4

I didn't read this thread but if people are mad about having Mario leading our program I don't think there is a path forward to communicating with them. He is in no way perfect. He has led this program to our best season in 20 + yrs last year and trending toward a similar season this year. Our recruiting is just slightly behind the elite programs, but blowing away the ACC. Our financial position and NIL is better than can be expected- what more do you want and who is going to give it to you?

The 3, it's actually 4, but those 3 all as a double digit fave.

Kirby 17-4
Deboer 15-5
Lane 16-4
Elko 15-5
Freeman 19-4
Cignetti 18-2
Day 21-2
Kelly 14-6
Brohm 14-5
Dabo 13-8
Lashlee 16-5
McGuire 14-6
Dillingham 16-5
Campbell 16-5
Dykes 14-6
Franklin 16-6
Lanning 19-2
Riley 12-8

Outside of three B1G coaches, meh meh meh. Maybe Freeman who dropped a game against Mario and NoIll. IU has also played the weakest two you schedule in the top tier of football.

Take a knee or ...
Call a time out or ...
Kick a field goal or ...

These are all in game decisions HE is responsible for making, where is the mystery?

The only one that was a true mistake was not taking a knee. The other ones are only bad decisions after the gameday board sees the result.

"GO FOR THEIR THROAT"
>>Incomplete pass ends the drive<<
"WHY DIDN'T WE KICK A FIELD GOAL!!"

Just a day in the life of CIS.
