I'm not arguing whether these are the right or wrong decisions, they were just examples of visible in game decisions he has to make, because you said we don't know what decisions he makes.

That only exists because you think you know what his in-game decisions are, when you really don't.

Im not even a Mario hater I’m just a Mario stator. People in here defending him like he doesn’t have flaws all over the place is hilarious to me . They’ll find one game where another coach lost as a big favorite then leave off Mario has far more lol. Like it’s apples to apples , it’s more like six crates of apples to a small bag of apples.

I get aggravated at both sides of the Mario pendulum because I’m normally in the middle. But I will say the mopes do shut up when things are good but right when Mario pulls a Mario the slurpers go into full excuse mode . The same excuses they’ve been using for four years . Yes Mario has done a better job than our recent head coaches but let’s not act like he hasn’t been afforded far more financial backing than our last few coaches combined. Which is the key to the game. The financial backing has allotted him the right to keep messing up hires then just making them go away. He’s able to throw money at his mistakes.

kirby mutliple NCs, one of those losses was in the playoffs to ND

day - just won a title. was on the hot seat last year pre title. he would have been fired had they not won the title.

lashlee - made playoffs and ACCCG in year 2 with SMU who had just joined the ACC. won 11 games his second year at a dead program following the pony express scandal.

he wont get fired so thats not even an option. SMU is the season and was always the season imo going into the year. we had basically all home games and first time on a real road trip is SMU. didnt think wed lose to lville or at home this year but it is what it is. lets see how we rebound

richt was 15-4 through his first 19. it fell apart shortly after with 3 straight losses.

it sure did. But I do think Cristobal has a much stronger roster to move forward with. Lets see if this team can buck the recent trend of fading down the stretch like old blue jeans...

I have confidence in the D holding strong and keeping us close in every game.

the run game is most likely dead imo bc they arent changing the scheme or even the looks. its up to beck if hes gonna be 2024 beck or 2023. again, I agree w Pete and was not thrilled w the body language. he came as off whiny last game with his pointing to his elbow and look terrified in the pocket in game.

10-2 would be another disappointment tbh. it would mean we missed the playoffs again. this roster is a playoff roster right now w a great defense.

In all seriousness, I do agree that it would be a disappointment but what have the last 21 years been? Two back to back 10 win seasons is not bad. It only takes one season and you have to be at 10 over many to get that chance. Miami from 1980-2000 averaged 10 or less per year. We hit on a handful of elite QBs then hit on almost every position at an elite level but QB( not hating on Kenny).

I struggle with his weaknesses and see Butch.to make matters worse, Coker took his kids and won so we will never know if Butch could have. Mario needs to Take more risks in some ways and not in others. More tempo when they can leverage a weakness and if that means they keep using temp for the full drive so be it if they score 7. Don’t try to run when you can kneel, block FGs when the chance is small, don’t be so conservative when your QB has the hot had. another weakness: we have 2 Ots playing LG, we have had multiple flankers playing X, 3t playing NT. Last year DE playing 3T. That is on Mario!

Then I see Mario the hardest working man. Great recruiter, got Cam and Beck to come to Miami. He has replaced multiple coordinators when things didn’t live up to the standard for arguably much better hires. He has helped rebuild the program and got money flowing at a time that it is allowed to help on many levels. He also has us positioned well for the next conference shuffles. We are 5-1 with a pretty easy back 6.

I don’t hate the man. I just wish he would let Dawson go wide some more on O. Toney at wildcat, Lofton in the T running and catching, more jet sweeps, more counters and outside zones, more 4wr verts followed by ground in pound against the same D. More Guards recruited that hit. More X receivers that stay and play. More NTs recruited. Less penalties. More dl stems to prep our OL and take advantage of the higher likelihood of false starts on OL we face. More discipline or flop to even the playing field. More PT for the high ceiling underclass and less for the 3-5yr back up.

and dang it!!!! Make the cfp and win some bowl games.

In case you forgot, Butch was short 31 scholarships back in 1997.

Butch had a huge reason why they struggled. He weathered the program through sanctions.

I never said I wanted him fired. But I wouldn't mind if he was gone.

Vast improvement to me is not what you consider it. Not losing to teams you should beat is an improvement. Making and winning the ACC is improvement. Making the playoffs is an improvement.

Giving me whiplash over here. You cited Mario's record against ranked teams at the time the games were played. Florida State was ranked when we played them. Don't move the goalposts now to fit your narrative.

He lost a game to an underrated Louisville team and you are melting down. How about we let the season finish so we can see if we win the ACC and/or make the playoffs?

I am not saying Mario is perfect. But I do think he deserves some credit for his willingness to adapt. Many coaches would have kept Guidry and called it a bad year. He fired him. Many coaches would have stuck with an offense that didn't work, Mario kicked Gattis to the curb and hired Dawson immediately. Many coaches would have relied on recruiting efforts and players in the building. Mario went out and hit a home run in the portal.

I think one thing that sets him apart from many other coaches is his willingness to embrace the new era of college football. We embraced the portal before most and it made a difference. He was a ready for the change and as a result, we were ahead of the curve instead of behind it (sup Clemson)

Lastly, this season in particular, Mario is a victim of his own success. If you asked before the season if we could skip the first six games and take these results, I am taking them 100 times out of 100. But once we started 5-0, the fanbase started pretending this team was supposed to be something it never was.

If he loses 2-3 more games that he shouldn't, okay, we can revisit his success here. But for now, I don't know how you can possibly be upset at where we are at today compared to where we were 3-4-5 years ago.

How many coaches has he let go since he has been here because they didn't work. News flash he hired them to begin with. We need to make it to the playoffs with this easy schedule. But this offense or lack their of will make it hard.

Great post. There's nothing so broken on this team that can't be fixed with subtle alterations. This is now a test to see if Mario can adjust on the fly and evolve as needed. Lets see how this 6 game journey unfolds, Im curious...

I don't think we can rely on the passing game like we did last year. Last year we had a better QB better wrs as a group better tes. We must run the ball and do so efficiently.

We just played two teams running 3/3-3/4 fronts. We better be able to pass because we will see much better fronts than UL and FSU. The book is out on Beck, those dump offs were WIDE open for 10-15yards on 3 of his INTs. The fourth much like the others, he had already decided where he was going. Beck either breaks from the tape or we drop more games…like SMU or Pitt as they are the more complete teams that can score just enough points to make it tough on our O.

I’d like to hope that we see Miami not just win but get back on track this week and carry that to SMU, Cuse, NCSt, Vt, Pitt.
