Fall practise #3

Dont want to give you nightmares, but dont speak in absolutes..

Imagine having 2 Dr. Pipho like turnstiles at Tackle.. It can always get worse

I dont care who your oc, qb is.. it can get worse.. We have huge question marks at oline
Miami was 104th in total offense out of 129 teams. It will never field as incompetent an O as it did in 2018 as long as I’m alive.

Same thing I thought in the preseason. Some of these guys must have thought we had more depth at DB than we do. He can cover better than most of our DBs already, and he’s a tough kid who is willing to stick his booger shooter in there.

I don’t give a fck what he weighs. There are plenty of teams on our schedule with runt WRs that he can match up with. These dudes act like every WR on every team is bigger than Megatron.

Kelly "Slim" Jennings is an excellent comparison, same one I would make.

To be fair, the kid was around 145 a year ago. Even then I agreed with you and HTown that Couch would end up seeing the field because I figured S&C would add another 10+ pounds and he is one of the best cover corners I've seen. When everyone was talking CB depth chart, I thought Couch would be our #4 after Bandy, Ivey and Blades, ahead of Bethel and CW.

Now that he's 165-170, his weight is a non-factor. I feel very good about that prediction. He'll get a lot of reps in.

All 3 qbs struggled and not surprising knowing it was the first day in Pads. Our T are Swiss cheese.
Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
Love hearing how Couch is killing it. This pup is going to be a dog.

**** no DeBiase news? worst coverage in sports.

But on the real Couch is about to make you girth lovers eat your words. Would've thought Bandy did that already, but I guess not.
I’m pretty sure Bandy was more muscular and heavier in build than Couch when Bandy showed up. Looks to be a great player.

I’m hoping Reed steps up and forces his way into the lineup which would then kick Scaife back out to RT.

2 first time starters at tackle is asking for disaster.
100% agree plus Reed is a gorilla in the running game. Very strong and has a wrestling back ground and a nasty attitude.

Another thing yall need to realize is that the media only gets to view a portion of practice.

They only see a few drills for a few minutes, you can't gauge everything just simply based off some throws in a drill.

The QB's will put this thing away when the 2 scrimmages take place, we still have a month left of practice.

Yall mf's need to learn to relax.

So is Zion Nelson really going to be our LT?

I was assured that his commitment was trash and he was not Miami caliber by the experts here.

But ok, no need to really debate that again...but seriously is this something to expect? (I’m way behind here obviously)
Looks like it. No one else is taking reps 1st team reps at LT. Navaughn said in his last interview that he specifically was put on the left side to mentor and support Zion since he's the most experienced lineman on the team. So barring something unforeseen, Zion will be starting day 1 at LT.

If Zion is the best LT on the roster he should start at LT. All the people scared of starting a freshman, would you prefer starting upper classmen who can't play like we did last year with Jones and Mahoney? Best guy plays. Experience means nothing if you suck.

Any chance the qbs could play without shoulder pads during the season, seems like they all are much better and accurate without them. Clam down just joking!

Given how glowingly they have spoken of Nelson you know the coaches are high on him. Tough task week 0 for him but obviously the coaches are priming him for a big role and that’s clear. They could have EASILY kept scaife as a tackle who had a solid freshman year but moving him to guard seems to hint that they feel they can develop the tackles(Nelson, Herbert or even Campbell) to quality players this year.
