Fall Practice Summary- Day 3

Can we all remember that we are installing a totally new offense, that is light years ahead of the prior one in terms of scheme and concept?

To make an NBA reference, we are debating who is going to win the game and not even half way into the first quarter.

This is from gaby urrutia and seems over pessimistic given that the media only sees a portion of practice. His report sounds different from what suero had all together too.
I read the whole article. The analysis of the media is all over the map. CIS says Jarren looked best. StateoftheU said K'kosi looked best. Both said Tate struggled.

We'll just have wait and see who emerges.

Bethel beat Evidence Njoku? Bethel gives up 8” and 50 lbs in that conflict.

Good for the little guy. Must have used great leverage. Not so good for Evidence.
I think Bethel did a tuck and duck to the floor move and Evidence just fell over the top of him...... Or didn't go up against him at all... I dunno...

What matters is who the coaches say is best.... And when they say it, that's our guy... lol

QB play:

Overall, the QBs played similar to how they did on Saturday. The things that they did well, they continued to do well. Same for the things they struggled with. The most significant difference is that Martell started the practice off poorly, but he improved as the day continued. He clearly is more comfortable passing to Osborn and the tight ends.

Jarren Williams continued to be the most consistent of the three quarterbacks. Specifically, when throwing the corner routes, Williams was feeling it.

For the second day in a row, Perry did not have a great showing. On the short to intermediate routes, Perry was throwing well but was by no means perfect. Perry continued to struggle with the downfield throws, especially when the receiver is working the sideline. Both yesterday and today, his passes drifted out of bounds and gave the receiver no chance to make a play.

Other Notes:

Freshman TE Larry Hodges looked to be moving very well and was impressive as a route runner, including some downfield routes.

Keontra Smith and Te’Cory Couch both looked good in coverage and are both extremely physical. They do not seem to be intimidated by the college level at all.

Al Blades was the only player to hit 20 MPH during the media viewing portion of practice. He did so while covering KJ Osborn.

The ‘Big Cane’ returned for the first time that we know of this fall. This is my best guess on some of the matchups and outcomes:

KJ Osborn and Robert Knowles ended in a stalemate.
Jeff Thomas and DJ Ivey ended in a stalemate.
Jakai Clark won twice, once was against Jalar Holley.

Some 1v1 results:

Al Blades beat KJ Osborn
Jeff Thomas beat Trajan Bandy
DJ Ivey beat Mark Pope
Christian Williams beat Jeremiah Payton
Keontra Smith beat KJ Osborn
Evidence Njoku beat Al Blades
Robert Knowles beat Marshall Few
Nigel Bethel beat Dee Wiggins

How long is the media viewing?

Martell out there throwing into the ground but he's the leader in the clubhouse lol.....man i cant wait til the scrimmage

My guess it that was after watching 15 minutes of practice. Would be shocked if Tate doesn’t start. He just knows the offense now and his reads are so fast. Ive heard you can tell he out worked the others in the film room. It’s obvious. My 2 cents

You’d love this guy Malik Rosier. He lit up Greentree.

They missed a couple of passes during the warm up session. Lighten up

You were trying to throw shade at Jarren. If Martell and Perry can't throw it without pressure what you think they're going to do with pressure?

Wonder what’s up with Perry? It is just day 3 but still. He started 6 games last year and should be a little further ahead with some of this stuff you would think. Jarren updates are pretty positive but he’s obviously got things he can work on. Martell needs to get consistent. From the videos today both Martell and Perry had throws that were off the mark. But regardless all of them seem to be showing some positive things and certainly some negative things. They got to get acclimated with throwing with pads on too so some of this stuff is probably expected. Will see how everything goes over the next 2 weeks or so.

Tate is better with pads and live action; his strength isn't playing against air.

He should win the job going away if he's anywhere near the top of the depth chart now.

Where would you rank Martells arm talent compared to the past 5/6 Miami QBs. Jacory?

That’s a @Roman Marciante question. I think it’s obvious if it’s just throwing nice balls and going through practice motions Kosi and Jarren are sexier, but Tate put in the work and knows a lot more of the playbook, and I think that wins out. Dude is exciting and makes plays, he will look poor at times but his creativity will always stand out

Wasn’t trying to throw shade at Jarren at all. I said it makes sense he would lead in a portion without defense because he is the most accurate passer of the 3.

However, the word is he goes through his progressions slowly so that only comes out when there’s a defender. I don’t really care about the most accurate guy in warm ups, I care about the guy that can make a play under pressure

Throwing the ball and running the offense are lightyears apart. The competition will play out.At some point, Toe meets Leather and it’s game on. Who can run the O, who has the attention and confidence of the team. Who can do this, Who wants this? Hang on CanesNation this ****’s gettin’ real. 8/24, coming fast. ALL ABOUT THE 🙌🏿

Personally the last 2 years (more so last year) was so frustrating as a fan, ****ed Richt played Rosier and worried Jarren would transfer etc. it ages me like 10 years, but this year I’m not picking sides and just going to roll with whoever is picked and if QBs leave it is what it is, I’ll trust Enos till he pulls a D Onofrio or Richt on us
