- FB’s, are they ready to play tough, rugged plays. They’re both going to be the lead blockers for Homer & Co., that and catching balls out of the backfield to add another element to the passing attack.
- QB, whoever we start against LSU, remain composed and show the team that they’re the leader. Make some hard passes when necessary and show the offense that they know the playbook and can carry the team when required.
- OL, become a cohesive group and make big enough holes as a unit to spur our rushing attack. Create necessary pockets for the QB to have room to get out good, clean passes.
- DL, gel together and remember the need to hold up against the run. Then when we have teams in 3rd and long situations, use their rushing passion to get to the QB.
- LB, don’t just become gap assignment players, read & react, help close out lanes, and make the tackle. Do better work during coverage downs to blanket opponent WR’s.
- CB, stay locked on receivers, don’t lose the battle of leverage and inside position. High point the ball so we can knock it away or come down with it. Find a CB2 that compliments MJ, and allows Bandy to play the nickel CB role.
- P, doesn’t have to lead the nation but does need to get off high, angled punts that allow our ST time to get down the field. Reduce or completely eliminate shanks.
-K, use fall camp to develop a rhythm when doing FG kicks so when the lights go on, he can trust the process and kick. Create more touch backs during KR’s.
- Coaches, be more aggressive on offense. Utilize the talent and skill sets of the players we have amassed at the different levels of offensive players. Use the freshmen to out advantage and don’t just throw them out there in hopes they’ll make a huge play. Get the confidence where it needs to be in order for them to shine this season. Defensively, quit always blitzing on 3rd downs, mix it up and throw offenses off of what we’re attempting to do. Trust the talent we have on defense and maximize plays to their abilities.
