Fall Camp 2025 PractiSe 2 - Friday August 1

Quick recap from what I saw today:

- CharMar Brown is a starting caliber ACC back and he's our RB3, let that sink in

- Beck was throwing more deep balls today, nice throws to Lofton and Keelan Marion

- Beck's experience shows as he's throwing to where recievers will be open, Jojo made the wrong decision on a route that would've been a TD if he read the defense better.

- Mo Toure is legit, moving really well and athletic. Wes looked good alongside him.

-Wouldn't be suprised if Mali Toney returns punts at some point this year, tons of juice

- Both Nickel and Judd with some nice throws today; Judd had a beautiful deep ball to Josh Moore for a TD

- Amari Wallace had a nice pick, jumped a route on Emory

- Xavier Lucas was dominant on the outside today, clamped Keelan Marion on a go route

- The CJ Daniels acrobatic catch stories are real, ridiculous tipped ball catch on Damari Brown

(Wish I could've saw the Dline more, hopefully we can see more next practice)

CJ Daniels is easily one of the 5 most important kids on the team.

If he's a legit All-ACC type player, it unlocks a whole level for the entire offense.

11 catches for 20 (!) yards per and 3 TDs as a true freshman
37 catches for 17 yards per and 7 TDs as a sophomore
Missed most of Year 3 in 2022
55 catches for 19.4 (!!) yards per and 10 TDs in 2023

Obviously all at Liberty against questionable competition, but those are elite numbers.

Goes to LSU and the YPC dips to 11.43 and 0 TDs, so the pessimist says maybe it was a step up in competition in the SEC, the optimist says he was hurt most of the year and a foot injury zaps all your juice as an X receiver.

All signs point to full health now, so we'll see who was right.

FWIW, in 2023, wanna know how many kids nationally caught 55 or more balls for 19.4 or more yards per catch? CJ Daniels. That's it. Nobody else in the country caught more passes for a higher YPC. The closest guy was Javon Baker, who caught 52 passes for 21.9 YPC. All that got him was a high 4th round pick and a spot on the New England Patriots.

If Daniels is truly an NFL player, and you can pair him with a supremely accurate passer in Beck, one of the best OLs in the country, this RB room, and then be able to also find your pick with the other pass catchers to surround Daniels, look the **** out.

He is MASSIVELY important to this offense. If he's a bust, yes, we have other kids who can potentially fill a void, but none of them have done it in college. Daniels has, and he's 23 years old. A productive adult in that room would be absolutely massive for the entire team.

That’s where jojo needs to be cerebral like X was. Seems like he always knew where to go on the choice routes and Cam was on the same page

One of the things I’ve thought about (when you say concerned people get all weird like it’s mope ****) is just the communication with QB to WR

Cam got here early and from Day 1 they were all working together and it showed

I keep going back to that Chase Daniel breakdown of the Florida game when he didn’t know who X was but referenced a play and said “I have no idea how the WR saw this but he did”

That chemistry was going to be impossible to replace but not having Beck healthy until late with a new crop of WR is a layer to this whole thing that I think these psychos saying we will be more efficient on offense are missing

And before the meltdowns yes I think this offense is still going to be **** good just not sure how quickly this chemistry happens

I do think the chemistry is a real wild card and I think that is more on the young wrs experience and football iq than whether or not they are on the same page with Beck specifically.

I will say that Cam did chase the big play on what seemed like every play but was able to make endless clutch plays to extend drives and literally save the day or even our season. Tip o the cap to X as well as he was often the recipient but not always.

I am hopeful that Becks preference to rapidly scan through the reads and check it down will pay dividends. With athletes like Lyle or Lofton in space, quick check downs can be low risk high reward decisions.

So I have that cautious optimism that the offense can be very efficient again, less clutch but equally efficient.

Jacoby George was also really good in the scramble drill and always knew how to find a way to get open for Cam. And I believe the coaches agreed with this sentiment by having Jojo out there on nearly every Beck rep.

Cautiously optimistic as well

I’m just gonna leave the “efficient” comments alone I suppose. We were the best team in America on 3rd downs by an astonishing margin. Like historic. No one was even close.

I will say I think Bauman was a very sneaky add. Arroyo is a different type dude so he’s not Arroyo, but he’s gonna produce
