A guy that’s run for 150+ (checks notes), zero times is gonna run for 180 on a team that last year let someone get 150 yards on the ground (checks notes) 0 times. All while considering the changes at Miami on the defensive side of the ball and ND rolling out a freshman QB making his first start.

I think someone’s perception doesn’t align with reality.
Guidrys defense last year so that's impressive not allowing 150 yd rushing

Agree on that. BUT Friday night in Blacksburg is DIFFERENT. I think the system they run is also a easy system to transition into.. I also think SMU REALLY has y'all fooled on here. I think the only thing that would've made that game slightly closer than it should have been last season is our defense couldn't stop the girls YMCA consistently. At this point SMU doesn't impress me.
Blacksburg is a Saturday game but point still stands. Pry probably fired before we play them as well. If they’re struggling and he’s still coach, their fans won’t show up like they usually do.

Bigger question would be if he’s already fired, do they derail or do they start turning it around? Could go either way.

We’re 4-1 in our last 5 trips to Blacksburg.

Michigan has a true freshman projected to start in game 1. And we see freshmen QB’s playing all over college football.
There is no reason to think that a freshman a QB cannot be the number 2 at Miami. Especially a 2-time state champ in Georgia who processes information very rapidly.

I don’t know why UM supporters always seems so concerned about freshmen playing important roles when other schools are not. I’m not picking on you, just using your post as a catalyst for my argument.
So I guess I am “using” you in a benevolent manner ;)

Redshirting entire classes nowadays is like going to Blockbuster Video on Friday night. Nowadays you have to figure out who can play, who is worth the money, and also find roles for guys (or they get antsy and look around) That's the reality of todays college football climate

Agreed but there are still cases of guys taking the time to develop. I think Okunlola will prove to be a nice example of that as our first OL off the bench this season. But the key is getting those guys to buy in and stick around, which is incredibly hard in today’s landscape.

yeah, I do think most lineman do need a year on the sidelines. I still think most Olineman are RS candidates, but overall, I think most players are getting RD less than in the past

until you see something different? You didn’t see any rb run for 180 last year. You do know only 1 rb rushed for over 100 yards the whole season vs the defense right? That was tuten from vt. No other back went over 100
because the Os were too busy scoring on 40yd bomba pass plays.

My concern with Beck is most closely aligned with what Brock Purdy went through last year: WRs who were 1) not quick enough to create a window or 2) not disciplined enough for precise timing.

I’m not saying the current room can’t be the opposite of those things, I don’t have high confidence that they will until we see it against P5 teams. Beck being a full go now is massive in figuring out who is able to meet those standards as quickly as possible.
So Georgia 2024 2.0.

Been to all of them at VT since 1999 except for 2014 and 2016. It’s not what it used to be at Lane Stadium (because they’ve fallen off).

It was inexplicably quiet in 2022 and we got off to a hot start and it was silent. They squeaked back in late and it got some juice in the stadium but nothing like some of them I went to in the 2004-2012 time frame.

VT is a dying program.
