Decent chance they have an interim coach by then
yeah and to me that is worst case scenario, be the most miami ish ever and you can see the storyline now. We had a slip up, a win against VT likely puts us squarely in the ACCCG, VT fires its HC, everyone assumes canes by 20, some interim OL coach who was the "players choice" steps in and they play their hearts out for him and upset us,

not gonna say it COULDN'T happen. Especially since he's insanely good with that offensive line. But logically speaking what makes you say that when you know next to nothing about the defense itself. Not just whose gonna play, but how well play in this scheme. If communication is where it needs to be he's not gonna come close to that.
Until I see different results from last year I’m gonna stick to what I said. Yes I know there were a ton of changes made.

I will be curious to see if Emory goes in first should Beck go out for any reason. Maybe it's a big lead...... According to Ferman & Shodell, Nickel is right there with Emory. They are big Emory fans - think he got a raw deal in the bowl game in terms of being prepared, guys he had to play with etc. They did admit that Nickel has really come on since the end of spring and is right there with him.

I wouldn't be surprised to see EMory be QB2 since mario and Dawson talked him into staying. If he goes in and has a repeat of the bowl game, we likely won't see him again....
I don’t disagree that Emory may get on the field before Nickel early in the season. But I think that will change as the season goes on and Nickel continues to learn this offense. .

So that is your outlook for the Canes, until you see something different from last year, but not Notre Dame. Love never rushed over 143 yards in a game last year, so until you see something different from last year.............

Who cares if he didn’t run for over 143 yards last year. He still ran for 1100 yards and averaged 6.9 a carry. Only ran more than 15 times once.

No no no u have a penchant for going too far. Nothing at all soft about Cleveland or Cincinnati, they are literally the descendants of people who couldn’t be shackled by slavery and later the Jim Crow south, and kept fighting and breaking out. You can get your **** whooped easily in both places, and while using hands.

Per Gaby:

On Beck: Said Beck looks big and showed his strong arm, making throws all over the field. Was precise in the middle of the field in tight coverage spots and pushed it downfield without hesitation.

On Backup Qb: Really likes what he saw from Nickel today. Said he had a great day in 7v7's and was making accurate throws. Emory had a really nice play to open the practice deep that was perfectly placed but the WR dropped it.

On Jojo: Said it looks like him and Beck had solid chemistry out there. There appeared to be a concerted effort to have Jojo on the field with Beck during his reps. Jojo created separation all day, mentioned by Gaby and Lake for his ability to get open. Jojo was among those named by Gaby as the most impressive for the day (along with Daniels, Toney, and Josh Moore).

On RB's: Said all of them look like they're in great shape. Thinks the top 3 will be very good. Lake commented on Pringle as well saying his quickness to get to top speed stands out.

On the Secondary: Gaby said it was his most encouraging performance of the day by the group as a whole. They made everything difficult on the offense. OJ and Xavier looked the part today of top coverage guys. Both guys had pass breakups today and OJ had a near pick. M. Williams, Jaboree Antoine and Ethan O'Connor were other guys mentioned having pass break ups.

JOJO?!?!?!

And not Big Baby Jesus?!?!?!

Oh, lord, break out the #35 jersey...

I’m with the moron… unless we beat ND, then I’m looking at no losses going into November. Realistically, I could even go to 9 wins with Lagway not even getting reps. ND, UF, SMU, Louisville are the four I’ve had as potentially our losses and while we likely win at least one of those there’s still November and The Narduzzi and VT in hillbilly land on a cold night I would guess.

I understand.

But this is not the same soft team that struggled in cold weather in past years. I'd also add, it was pretty balmy in Atlanta last year when we lost to GaTech, the game at Syracuse was inside, and it was very pleasant in Orlando for the bowl game.

So, yeah, cold weather didn't hold us back last year. Nor were we really challenged by it. I also don't think it was an issue in 2023. So we should have now had enough of a break and the chance to use some institutional amnesia when it comes to cold night games.
