Face Mask Penalties...

FSU was vicious in the face mask penalties and it sure seems those are as dangerous or worse than targeting. They deserved ejection more than our penalties. As I recall there were three called and each I thought our player was in danger of serious injury. We see calls where a player just touches a mask get flagged, but where they hold on to it like it is a handle deserves ejection more then targeting where BOTH players lower their helmets.

Totally agree. Especially Mallory. But let’s be honest, Hall deserved to get the boot. That was more then dangerous. Even I could not justify that one.

Those three were about as flagrant as it gets, especially Mallory & Harley. Definitely put kids at risk.

I know they want to avoid subjectiveness as much as possible, but I really believe that face masks should have different penalties for accidental vs purposeful/egregious. If you grab the facemask purposefully or use enough force that you are controlling the other players movements, it should be the same as targeting.

Snark aside, if targeting is an ejectable penalty then the most egregious facemasks should be too.

But I'm just here waiting for Herbie and Fowler and their ref "expert" to figure out if you have to leave the sideline or not after being "ejected".

Yeah, grazing or grabbing and immediately letting go - I am cool with those being 5 yards or possibly not even enforced.
