Expectations for the next 5 years of Miami Football

My expectations?

Mark Richt still Head Coach.
5 ACC Coastal Championships
3 ACC Championships (Our rivalry with Clemson will become storied, but not bitter, primarily because of Dabo’s role in getting rid of Golden).
A Sixth ring, possibly a seventh, depending on how many bags Alabama, OSU, TAMU, and Clemson keep doling out.
Two additional Heisman Nominees
One Heisman winner.

Should we win in 5 years if the program continues on its current trajectory absolutely but I wont talk natties until we can consistently run the football and pass protect. Everyone gets wrapped up in Qb play. Good offensive line, star power at running back and excellent defense is the winning formula for this program. I cant say we can do that right now. If that improves this season I'm sold.

This.

Alabama does what it does year in and year out because of dominating OL and DL line play.

I don’t think this is an accident. There’s no shortcut to the top. Part of the reason Wisconsin was able to wear us down (aside from admittedly shi##y QB play on the part of Rosier) in the Orange Bowl was that their line was able to dictate in the second half. That needs to change.

Cant tell if you agree or disagree? I think we agree.

Depends on if you consider Richt a top 5 coach or not?

If you do then, 1 ACC title in 5 years is unacceptable. And if you have us winning the Coastal every year but only winning 1 or 2 ACC titles, that means we go 2-3 or 1-4 in the ACC title game.

We should be the favorite to win the ACC in at least 4 out of the next 5 years, we should be a playoff team in 3 out of the next 5 & a National championship should be the standard.

My expectations are 3 or 4 ACC titles & at least 1 National title out of at least 2 appearances.

If those are lofty expectations then what the **** are we doing? Has 10 wins become the only benchmark that matters? If we only won 10 a year but never win the ACC or make the playoffs yall would be okay with that?

Part of the problem is keeping the talent at home.

Richt can and will work wonders, but it is brutally hard to compete against the SEC bagmen.

I think we have a coach who will win us 10+ a year, especially in the Coastal. I think you start stringing together 10+ win seasons and you'll see a lot of other goals falling into place. Top rated recruiting classes follow that type of success. Added depth and greater talent follows higher rated classes, and eventually getting over the hump follows that talent an depth.

"Expecting" and national title in the next 5 years is not fair IMO. I think it's realistic to think that Miami can make a playoff appearance or two and with that anything can happen. Just can't say that I think not winning one in the next 5 would be below expectations.

Minimum expectation: win at a consistent level (avg 9-11 win seasons)

Maximum expectation: A couple of national championships

Not one... not two... not three... not four... not five

for real:

5 ACC Coastal Champs
1 ACC Champ
2 playoffs

And idk about #6 I don’t want to talk like that

Real answer:
5 Coastal Titles
2 ACC Titles
1 National Championship
3 Playoff Appearances
Richt is still head coach in 5 years, but we could be on Richt to AD with Head Coach successor in waiting status/watch, maybe Manny?
I like this except for the Diaz CIW part. Based on DB recruiting this year and Kool's **** DL recruiting while he was here, Diaz still hasn't shown the ability to properly manage the defensive side of the ball. No way I want him running the whole program.

Yep. My expectations are pretty much exactly the same. It is not going to be any easier here than it was there. We will still always have massive local recruiting competition and we will always have FSU and (while Dabo is there) Clemson in between us and a conference title.

You could make the case that the local talent is a little better than the local talent in Georgia, but the drop off in fan/alum/resources is probably a bigger offset in terms of pros and cons.

Richt would have made the playoffs multiple times at UGA. He may get lucky enough to do that and win one here.

One tough, heartbreaking loss in Charlotte.

Next five years make Richt 7years in the job! Natty or bust!

Coastal a given
Fierce battle with Clemson in the ACC.. we win and lose close
Beat FSU every year ..at least 4 out of 5

DESTROY! The FL Gatas in the opener next year

This is what success should look like for us

No. Blake James is significantly younger than Richt and doing a phenomenal job. And has that whole "experience as an AD" thing that employers seem to covet in an AD candidate.

Now... something like Director of Football Operations, Community Liaison, etc? Sure.

The BoT will in all likelihood not hire Diaz without experience as an HC. Burned way too bad on Shannon. I expect Diaz to leave after this season or the next for a relatively legit HC gig, with the strong possibility of returning to Miami to lead the way a few years down the line, provided he proves he can be successful elsewhere.

Other thing being, I doubt Richt gives it up in 5 years if he's still successful and having fun. Regardless of the fact he's SAID it, you can tell he loves what he's doing right now every time he speaks.
