Expectations Before and After 5 games

I expected 4-1 and the defense to show signs of improvement and special teams to be a nightmare. So far Carter Davis and the rest of specials have been great and obviously the defense looks unreal.

Also, if anyone watched what they did to Auburn this weekend vs UGA, you'd realize how quickly a game can be turned upside by the refs and considering the rate we've been penalized and the lack of penalties on opposing teams, this is concerning. Could be the difference in some games if we don't blow teams out.
This is an aspect that many on this board including myself tend to forget. We all know # 4 is unblockable and #3 is nearly unblockable. We also know they both will be held without a nary of a whistle being blown. As dumb as this may sound but if Miami beats Louisville convincingly, that team(Refs) is the only one that legit makes me nervous because they are so inept, borderline corrupt.

My expectations are to beat those homos Ohio State for a natty and exercise our 2002 demons where we were robbed and program was derailed..............wishing it into existence 🙏

While I love and appreciate your sentiment, that game did not derail our Canes. Larry Coker derailed our Canes, as well as the decision makers who allowed him to fill the position of head coach, and then make the boneheaded decisions upon his termination.

I hoped/expected to end the regular season between 10-2 and 11-1. Also expected an ACC game APPEARANCE and playoff berth with a competitive game.

I'll revise expectations up one game basically because of how we've looked.

11-1 or 12-0 regular season
ACC Champs
Win at least 1 playoff gam

I’m not saying gtfo at all after being important again. That’s would be too knee jerk for me. And then Miami hires Norvell. Chill bruh I’m good
This was sarcastic - a call back to the dark days when many of us had that in our signatures.

I do think anything short of finally winning the ACC is a failure, but certainly not fireable by any means.

Anything short of outright winning the ACC would be a complete facepalm at this point. That's the absolute floor right now. You win the ACCCG and that automatically takes care of qualifying for the playoffs.

As far as the playoffs go, a lot will depend on what our final seed ends up being. If we get the #1 seed, get a bye, and then get on paper one of the weaker 2nd round opponents......we have as good a shot as anyone to win the whole thing. Factor in the actual championship game is in Miami at the Hard Rock and you don't have to squint too hard to see the path.

I was at 10-2 and ACC title game and playoffs at the beginning of the year. This team currently, all things being equal and staying relatively healthy (God willing) 11-1, win ACC and get a top 3 seed is my expectation.

Are they good enough at the key areas of football to win thru the season and the ACC title game? Absolutely, football at the end is about trench warfare, miss me with “shiny new toy” positions, yes it’s great to have, but you win at the LOS period full stop. And UM is one of the few teams right now playing at a top 5 level on both the offensive and defensive line.

With that said, the data is clear, in today’s college football, with counting on college KIDS, it is **** near unlikely teams will go 12-0. Heck it hardly happens in the NFL with PRO athletes that are adults, let alone asking or rationally expecting that of college kids.

So expect us to drop a game that on paper we shouldn’t. But big picture, expectations should be finish the job win the the **** conference finally and get a top seed, and from there may the chips fall as they may.

The game was in fact more symbolic than anything. But OSU likes to take credit for our fall with that game as a turning point so I personally would savor beating them more than anyone. But thats just me.

Last year 9-0 before a loss. I just think it’s very difficult today to run the table no matter what the competition. Mario is doing a fantastic job in trying to keep the players motivated and away from the ear poison. He says “don’t praise them”

Louisville, smu, pitt

I think we drop one but happy to be wrong
we're gonna be SMUs Super Bowl and its the first time we leave the state for a game (which is actually wild). I hope I'm wrong but I think that is where we trip up. 1 loss regular season, ACC Champs and win a game in the playoff would be an absolute HOMERUN of a season. Anything better than that is just icing on the cake IMO

As we know, most any game, football, bball, baseball, all are so heavily influenced by momentum swings, and that Auburn game really sealed the deal for me regarding how easily the zebras can take a win away and dictate momentum, unless of course it's total domination. That said, I think it's less inept and more so the latter. These folks know what they're doing and this game and most of sports are so heavily influenced by money, it's difficult for me to turn a blind eye to corruption. Call me a cynic, but it's hard to unsee once you've seen it.
