That’s why this is such a bad thing. Some schools will go crying to him that they followed his rules and they are losing to schools who didn’t. His ego will then force him to lash out. Obedience must be rewarded. Defiance punished. It’s right out of the handbook.

I wonder what would happen if he tried to withhold funds from Miami, and then we pulled his granddaughter's golf scholarship. I mean, we all know that he could easily write a check for tuition, but it would still be pretty funny.

Guarantee scholarships for four years, make players employees and allow them to collectively bargain transfer rules. Otherwise, the NCAA can kick rocks. People ***** about transfers but are totally okay with coaches pushing players out if they’re not good enough.

Disagree on guys with legit medical redshirts. Toure had 3 ACL reconstructions and hasn’t played 4 seasons. What I don’t agree with are the guys who played Juco for 2 years so that shouldn’t count or the BBall players who played professionally overseas for 5 or 6 years and now decide to go to college.

Be careful what you ask for in establishing a union to oversee a CBA for college athletics. The NCAA will seem like child’s play compared to the potential corruption a union brings.

The transfer issue is already out of control with countless “agents” already involved. It’ll literally take an act of Congress to reign in all this chaos. Good luck with that.

Unless you’re saying just to get rid of medical red shirts so as an example the basketball player this past year who missed the year because he had cancer, you’d be telling him sorry tough luck. No way in the world is that acceptable in my opinion.

I don’t disagree with that at all — schools shouldn’t be able to pull scholarships or make empty promises, and players probably do need more protection. But unlimited transfers isn’t fixing that, it’s just created complete chaos.

There’s gotta be some middle ground here. Whether it’s contracts, rules, or eventually collective bargaining, the current system just isn’t sustainable

My issue is an ill informed politician is unduly influenced by the NCAA and conferences with zero player input to wave his hand and reset rules that need to be worked out meticulously in CB and the courts. This isn’t a game of tic tac toe. This stuff is complex and he just introduced bias (and corruption IMO) back into the process.

If you think a few dozen (mostly retired) coaches and (former) players, in a 2-hour meeting, without the input of current players, was enough to form a coherent policy or "executive order", you have got to be kidding yourself.

It is irrelevant whether he was "asked to intervene". He has been asked to intervene on a lot of **** that he ignored.

This is not good policy, and he doesn't even have the power to do what he claims he can do.

Getting players involved would be positive. That being said, an 18 year old freshman, with a few exceptions, would probably not have the necessary perspective to contribute meaningful observations. A player like Mesidor - mature, experienced, insightful - would be an excellent choice to add meaningful observations and perspective

That’s exactly the point. Neither of those 2 organizations have done a **** thing except create chaos. With the EO, Trump laid out a POSSIBLE way forward. Nothing more. Nothing less.

I don’t know maybe because he has actually no ability to actually do anything with an executive order when there’s no underlying laws based on it, which is just like how a law that’s been approved is to be executed. It’s all performative politics.

Also, there’s a thing called the war and the economy going on right now that he should probably be a little bit more focused on so as important as college football is the timing is also just strange
