That the moment it becomes clear an employee must be fired - it must be immediate.

To retain that employee does further damage to your endeavor - your business - and it makes a statement to other employees and prospective employees that a certain level of performance is demanded, and if not, termination will be immediate.

This tightens up everyone in the organization. (Whisper - "Did you know XXXXX got fired today? He was terminated and escorted out of the building!)

Firing is always unpleasant, but there is zero benefit, and certain detriment in delaying what must be done.

Another term is DAMAGE CONTROL.

Very true!

Yep. This is 100% accurate.

Btw, I don't see why the admin would even want to put Golden through the torture of the next few weeks. They think they are doing the right thing by keeping him on, but it's exactly the opposite. Cut this poor ******* some slack and let him go now.

Partnerships in the business world are even tougher. It breeds jealousy, spite and discontent amongst partners and staff. AG has essentially turned his coaching tenure at Miami into a partnership with D'Nofrio. His refusal to cut ties with the person most responsible for his failure sunk his ship and did irreparable harm to his career.

If size of Golden's buyout drops by several million after the last game, the AD will not OFFICIALLY fire Golden until after the season unless Golden's agrees to waive that clause or agrees to a greatly reduced buyout now. My guess is the coaching search has been ongoing and is now in full swing.

I guess it depends on how the business is setup. Usually you have a document path that leads to termination and you just don't up and fire someone without warning. In the case of Golden he has a contract which lays out our path to firing him. If UM cared about football he would have been fired and not let on the team bus.

100% correct. I'm in sales, we just axed someone after 6 weeks. Once you know it's not gonna work get them the **** out before they do more damage to the company.

Or you could just let them run rampant and destroy your brand. Either way.

I was thinking of this as it pertains to President Frenk...What a perfect opportunity for him to "transition" from"Listening" to "Action." By firing James and Golden NOW, He puts everyone in the university on notice that he is in charge and will not accept substandard performance (okay, Fataweenie Alfredo Goldenusky and his clown staff are smoking hole disasters, but you get the drift). Alas, Frenk may have been the latest in the history DiMare/Fain/Miller and their use of cheaper foreign-sourced labor who won't rock the boat (no pun intended in Fain's case).

All true, but the problem is our athletic department isn't run like a business. If it were, you wouldn't have a loser like Blake in charge of it and someone like Golden would have been terminated a year or two ago for poor performance.
