ESPN taking Mark Jones to the house

What's political about that?

Agreed. Probably should have said he was trying way too hard to be woke than political. That was where the culture was at ESPN around then though, so maybe he was just toeing the company line for all I know.

I always appreciated how prepared he was for UM bball games, even when we were awful. You get some guys on there who didn't even know guys names on the bench, and he was always ready where a story or comment about every single player or the city of Miami during broadcasts.

Certainly. Fair announcer when it came to us, smoothed-brain take on a police escort, but certainly not political. Probably the best use of the word "woke" I've seen on this site lol. Bravo.

WAMI-TV Role: Jones was a co-anchor for "SportsTown" on WAMI-TV, a station launched by Barry Diller in the late 90s, where he was known for covering Miami sports.
I’m old I remember seeing him on there

Really liked him. Then he got all caught up in the political nonsense. Stating he turned down a police escort to a game because he was scared they might shoot him was one of the dumbest things I've ever heard

Depends on how I feel like identifying that day

Congratulations! Sounds like you have options.

Mark Jones doesn't; he can't remove his blackness like the costume you may choose to wear.

So, with all due respect, someone of your privilege is in no position to pass judgment on an unmistakably-black man's lived experience.

Espn been trying to get rid of that nasty racist. bro finally got his getting. he didn't leave on his own. here are some of his greatest hits:

  • Made false accusations claiming stadium police officers were going to shoot him dead because he is black.
  • Posted tweets telling Rush Limbaugh to "rot in ****" the day his wife announced he had died of lung cancer.
  • Lied about police "murdering" Jacob Blake, who is still alive.
  • Called Stephen A. Smith a "coon."
  • Shared posts calling his white colleagues and bosses "blind to racism in front of him."
  • Posted tweets celebrating Nick Bosa tearing his ACL as "payback for standing for the national anthem" and supporting Donald Trump.
  • Claimed the Batman character is rooted in racism.
  • Shared a photo saying, "MAGA women are ******."
  • Promoted a false story declaring Gov. Ron DeSantis a "member of the KKK." (He is not.)
  • Shared a fake story claiming Aaron Rodgers is a member of QAnon. (He is not.)
  • Argued that white people "appropriated" Jesus.
  • Reposted tweets saying police shot Breonna Taylor when they saw her skin color. (They never saw her.)
  • Liked a post from Bishop Talbert Swan that called white people "demonic forces of evil."
  • Reposted tweets calling Queen Elizabeth a "racist" on the day she died.

Well, this thread has certainly gone off the rails.

As a commentator, I thought he was alright. Kind of seemed a little grumpy and negative the last few seasons, like Chris Fowler. I never thought he was anti-Miami.

Doesn't bother me one way or another that he is leaving. Give me Louis Riddick, Roddey Jones, Jesse Palmer, Herbie, and Brad Nessler.
