ESPN says Shannon may become interim coach

They saying Scott frost ucf coach

no way frost ends up anywhere but nebraska

he was qb for them back in the day in the late 90's

They've been fantasizing about it on GatorBait. We have it captured in the Gator Tears thread. They think they'll get him over his alma mater because of the recruiting position hed be in at UiF. Mike Norvell from Memphis is another name they've floated.

They're 3 best option are:

1. Mullen
2. Babers
3. Kiffin

All three would be an upgrade over McEltoof (except maybe Kiffin), and all 3 would actually want the job and everything that comes with it.
Would be too good to be true. On many levels.
Be careful what you wish for. Kiffen is doing a good job so far. And, he’ll hire coaches who can coach even if they’re controversial.

And, I’m sure he likes Boca better than Tuscaloosa or Knoxville. I really don’t see him as a college town coach.

If Frost goes to Nebraska he might be a UCF candidate.

Called it months ago. Tooth gone this year and Randy will show some promise ending up with the HC gig.

iirc, there have been 2 black hc's in SEC history, croom and franklin (i'm not counting sumlin). one of them, franklin, is racially ambiguous. and, he coached at the "least SEC" SEC school.

given the fact that they've had 2 consecutive unsuccessful hires, given randy's um tenure, and given that SEC powerhouses like uf do not hire black hc's, i just don't see it.

interim, yes. full time hc, no.

He'd be the perfect coach for them actually. He has that Spurrier jerk/douche factor that perfectly mirrors their entire fanbase. He'd recruit like a demon. He'd put together a a coherent staff like you mentioned. The only mystery is whether he'd win games at that level again.

That's the guy people are calling the young Spurrier.

Mike Gundy wanted the UF job last time it was opened. Wonder if he still does.

I can't see Kiffin there after what he did to Tennessee.

Dan Mullen has history with their new AD though.

We shouldn't cheer for this too loudly. Fu*kers may pay and get Chip Kelly.

I don't know. For some reason, I feel like Scott Frost was truly the guy who made Oregon go. Look what he's doing at UCF. Was Chip all hype with no substance? Sure seemed like it when he got to the NFL, which I of course realize is a completely different game.

Scott Frost was a WR coach when Kelly was there... Didn't get OC until Kelly bolted

Also, if Randy leaves UF, I hope we hire him as an off field defensive assistant for experience purposes.

i forgot about joker phillips.

As long as they don't go after butch Davis I good. Shannon Polly isn't ready for big time cfb just yet. He might even admit as much. As bad as he was he wasn't as bad as that golden.

Randy Shannon just may mention Butch Davis.

Shannon's defense is good.

He'd probably know that if Butch came, Butch would probably want to keep Shannon as DC.

If you fail at USC you fail at any major program.

I just watched Randy's press conference from an hour ago. He's gotten better at it since his time at UM. Pretty impressive really.

Randy would never be hired by UM after the Shapiro violations occurring on his watch.

Honestly, I don't even think he be allowed on campus.

Not sure why we'd even want him though. Diaz >>>> Randy and there are much better options if we're just going to hire someone to recruit and coach LBs. UF fans have been dogging Randy for awhile now about his ****** recruiting

Almost these exact words were used to project his success at USC. Exceeding an extremely low bar is much different than meeting championship expectations. But, maybe he's totally changed. Will have to see it to believe it.

Randy is a good man.

Would never wish for Gator success but I hope he puts up some respectable showings.

I doubt it. He's a bum, and he would ever SUCCEED at UF.

He's a poster child for privilege. Dude has been mediocre to bad at every stop, but he keeps landing on his feet bc he talks a good game.

You shouldn't be allowed on campus with these silly *** comments.

Butch never hired Randy as his Coordinator.
