ESPN Power Ranking blurb on the game...

One blurb from some guy on ESPN does not prove the OP's premise about what matters to pollsters, the media and recruits.

There were many mentions on television and on social media about how Perry looked and how the Hurricanes look like a much different team with Perry. Some even coming to the concision that they would like to see Miami play in a rematch against LSU.

That to me is more important to our perception than what some little blurb in the corner of ESPN's website mentions.

Simple: Run the table and get to the ACC Title Game. Then it will all be in the Cane's hands, and that will severely limit the ranking committee's bias.

Its like the bad call adage: Don't leave it close enough so a bad call can change the outcome.

Won't matter if we win out and upset Clemson we are in IMO - that means a road win at Blacksburg and BC which the voters will like. ESPN already touting how tough it will be for Notre Lame in a few weeks in Lane Stadium to boost their resume in case VT sh*** the bed from here on out.

The most important thing is to win.

After that, is how you win. That impacts perception of your program, which plays a big role in rankings and recruiting (in general, recruits want to play for successful, dynamic programs).

The reason for this is to call out that how we play and win can have follow-on effects. 2/3 score victories and a couple losses are much worse than 5 score victories and a couple losses, and we will see an impact in recruiting as a result (which equals wins in the following years).

How we win?
After 3 quarters:
Score
Miami 31- FIU 0
1st Downs
Miami 23-FIU 3
Yardage
Miami 412-FIU 48

Mission Accomplished.

If a particular recruit is interested in being here, he was watching.
He saw how dominant we were in the first 3 quarters.

We’ll need help. One loss Big 10 and Big 12 champ likely in over us, and probably 2 SEC teams again. Not sure why everyone tries to act cool like this **** doesn’t matter because it does. Meyer got 2 national titles on his resume purely from media bias.

"The Hurricanes survived a lackluster two-touchdown win over the Panthers..."

Thanks Manny. See what happens when you start blitzing up 31 points.

Thats ridiculous, the panthers had a total of 14 yards of offense going into the 4th and negative 9 yards of rushing. Once we cleared the entire defense for our 3-4 strings against fiu’s first string is when they got the points and yards in against us.

The young guys gotta learn at some point. It's a staple in Manny's defense, so why not work on it against FIU?

These scores mean absolutely nothing. We the coastal and we're in the ACC regardless of how close the games are.

How many tight games did we have last year? Yet at one point we were #2 in CFB rankings.

That’s my point, the score does matter. Most people won’t watch our game, especially if even ESPN didn’t!

TF do you want? Now we can't play the 2nd and 3rd string guys because we need a real impressive win?

Sure this stuff matters, but it's worth a lot more to get your backups some experience than it is to give ESPN a flashy score to talk about.

F*** ESPN!!! Richt did the right thing by sitting out starters, especially with ACC play starting on such a short week. We have to look at the bigger picture. Still tho, Diaz had no business calling all those dumbass safety blitzes with the **** 3rd string on the field. Should've just stayed in base defense the remainder of the game.

Stupid write up. So, Richt might have a problem because he played a more talented QB over a 5th year senior that isn’t getting the job done? Seems to me it’s a good problem to have. Why is it better to have an inconsistent QB with no one good enough to get him benched? That defies logic.

"anyone who watched the game"

Guess what, rankings committee probably isnt going to choose to watch miami vs a mid major. They wont watch every game of every team, they will look at scores. We needed to beat them by 30+, we didn't, it looks like we are (yet again) fake because we squeeze by mid major teams instead of blowing them out like the big boys.

Mark Richt and his amateur band stay disappointing. You guys are going to complain several weeks from now when we are 8 and 1 and ranked behind some people with 2 or more losses. This is exactly why.
