ESPN on Manny's "American Dream"

Most missed the point on what ESPN was doing and went tribal (that's what they want you to do, BTW).

Manny's story is pretty interesting, but each of us has our own stories, some tragic, some lucky, some relatively mundane.

Don't fall for the media's tricks, we are all in this together.

It’s racist pure and simple

Manny Diaz was born and raised in the USA

But in TV they are talking about him like he fresh off the inflatable rubber raft boat coaching games in a guayabera and cuban fedora smoking a new rolled cigar

They are stereotyping him to fit their dumb *** racist narrative of some poor little foreigner who came here and made it big

Smh they are just using him

What ever, TRuMP loyalist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jajaja

You are what they call a typical gusano spiting the same bull for over 50 years.
Cubans have a lot more freedom than many americans.
They might not have riches but what latin american country do, at least they have their dignity.

The only sin Castro committed was not bowing down to imperialism and the owners of the world.

Of course Cubans are hard workers, but the elite that ran off once Fidel took power arent used to working.
And if you dont think many cuban americans were on the cia payroll then you are just naive on how things work worldwide.
Fidel only sin is not bowing down to the ones that own the world.
You definitely are a commie loving leftie based on your inaccurate comments. My suggestion is you go to Puerto Rico and help the “independistas” liberate yourself from American Colonialism. Although I doubt you will take the time to do that. It is not worth debating with dogmatic and inaccurate people like you, however did you hear the one about the why they don’t celebrate Christmas in Puerto Rico?....

LOL so the fact your cousins drowned swimming is Fidel's fault.

I guess Jose Fernandez boating accident is also the fault of the cuban government.

Your hate is obvious from your posts but whats lacking is your understanding and education on geopolitical issues like this.
You are a fanatic that cant debate this issue clearly.

I bet you were one of the people trying to keep Elian in the states away from his father.
Había un Boricua and he found a genie bottle...

LOL if you knew the history of independentistas in PR you wouldn't even bring it up in this debate.
They were all jailed or killed by the US government but yeah castro is the bad one.

That ain't S**T!

My ancestors were killed and survivors run out of Scotland by the English - and when they got to Ireland - same thing - English! Came here and had to take up arms in King Philip's War and in every war the colonies, states, or US had ever since. Big time participated in kicking the English out of the colonies - so we got our payback. (still haven't gotten back at the Yankees)

Now. Are there any Native Americans that want to share their personal burdens and how they've suffered under migrants?

Are there any Mongolian Americans who wish to share their hardships under Genghis and the Chinese?

Do we have some Polish Americans who would feel better whining about every army passing from East to West, West to East, North to South, or South to North who would always have to pass through Poland?

I think we're adults here - and we can all have a real fine pity party - everyone can biitch and moan about the struggles of their ancestors - blow off some steam, and we'll all feel much better for it.

On the other hand - I thought this was a football forum -
Nothing wrong with someone being passionate about their history, but agreed not the place for it.

The self hate of Miami fans is amazingly sad and probably has as much to do with why we can’t have nice things as the “administration” issues.

ESPN talks about a feel good story surrounding our head coach and our fans want it to include the life story of our biggest rival.

Can’t make this up.

I'm not a PC person, but in ESPN recounting Many Diaz's family struggles from Castro's imprisonment of his grandfather, the grandmother's escape from Cuba, the father going to law school and then Miami mayor, I did appreciate what his family had to go through for Manny Diaz to make it to where he is...Great Story.

But it occured to me ESPN didn't mention one fact on the other side of the field:

Good possibility Willie Taggert's relatives came to this country in chains; look how far he has come.

Something to reflect on...

So it is self-hate if I bring up the FACT slavery occured in this country?

We obviously can't have nice things, like say, oh, HISTORY CLASSES?!?

To make up for ESPN only telling half the story, it appears Dyme Lyfe is featuring a look into Willie’s life for you:
