How notorious night owl Ed Reed became the NFL's feared ball hawk
A onetime fallback option became a Hall of Famer, one of the greatest defensive players and one of the most unique characters in NFL history.
Great post. Agree with every single word. I was on the same floor of MRC with him my freshman year. Was a really really neat time to be a student at The U. He is, and I think always will be, my favorite football player of all time at any position. Unfortunately, I never got to know him personally. I hear he is as exceptional of a human being as he was a football player. My favorite player of all time. ******* legend in multiple ways and not sure we'll ever have the honor of seeing someone like him.
Still remember him posted up on that corner bench in Memorial like he'd sat there for 60-70 years every morning.
Fantastic Rodman comparison! Ed is to the safety position what Rodman was to rebounding for sure.It is a unique thing; seeing formations and knowing exactly where to go. Ted Hendricks was the same way. Dennis Rodman could tell you the spot where the rebound was going to be when it left the shooters hand.
Makes you wonder: what do they see that I can't?
Top 3 safety all time, and a good argument could be made for #1.
Ed. M'******'. Reed.
G O A T! Period!!!!The Man. A legend.
Go Canes!
Yep. And the amazing part is Miami was actually up in that game when he said that in the tunnel. Dude was that boiling that we weren't dominating. GOAT.One of the greatest INSPIRATIONAL/MOTIVATIONAL (pros or college) football speeches of all time!!!
James LewisTo think him and Sean Taylor were on the same college football team...along with Antrel Rolle, Phillip Buchanon, and Kelly Jennings.
James Lewis
Maurice Sikes
Rumph
Markese Fitzgerald...
Jennings wasn't on the 01 team when Sean and Ed played.
