ESPN: Mateer hand surgery

Not necessarily.

Michael Hawkins has experience with 4 starts under his belt & has good mobility as a running QB.

Obviously, he doesn't have the arm talent of Mateer, but the Offense doesn't have to completely change due to the fact he can operate the Mesh point read options in a similar fashion.

He's not likely gonna stretch the field as often, but Oklahoma has good weapons & if he can keep from turning the ball over, Ben Arbuckle can manufacture productivity from the offense enough to win a few games until Mateer comes back.

They also have a really good Defense that will keep them in games enough to give them a shot.
They have a brutal schedule. 6 of their next 8 games are against ranked teams. Even with Mateer, it was going to be a grind to get 10+ wins

Ranked & unranked is a matter of conjecture.

SEC teams get overranked in order to help make the top of the conference look stronger when they play later in the year. It also makes for better TV ratings when both teams are ranked.

Texas is 3-1 & ranked 10th, but they're not remotely close to being a top 10 team; they just have that shiny number next to their name because of their brand, prestige, market & matchup ratings for TV games.

Tennessee & Ole Miss are legit.

But by the time they get to the last quarter of their season Mateer will probably be back by then.

Sellers is not even close to a first round pick at the moment
Check out current mocks. Sellers is a consensus early first round pick with many sites having him #1 overall.

I mean, people who do mock drafts for national publications are looking at the same game film you are, but they also talk to NFL GMS.
He had a QBR of 17.9 against South Carolina state

I don’t blame you guys for not watching South Carolina games but if you did, it’s obvious

I watch every play, because we are a USC family as much as a UM family. GMs think differently from you.

You’re missing my point

Who cares about mocks right now? It’s not how it’s gonna play out
Well I’m a Dolphins fan, so sadly I care about mocks now, particularly the QB class. Sellers has some very intriguing raw tools that I wish Tua had. Is he a perfect prospect? Far from it. But there is serious potential there. I remember saying the same about Lamar Jackson. Sellers could stab a defensive end with a shank this week and he’s still going first round.

I’ll gladly take bets right now that Sellers will not be a first round pick in the 2026 draft. He can’t throw a football. Where he’s at in mocks has already started falling and will only continue.

Four days ago, regarding Sellers:

"He's got most physical talent," one veteran scout told ESPN. "His ability to scramble and make plays with his feet as a runner. He's instinctive and the ball comes out quick. He's got a unique talent level. The kid, his story and how he got there. He's got a toughness to him. It intrigues people.

"He's got the makeup, intangibles and ability to run. He's got the most potential to be an impact player."

Not a single thing there about throwing the football, which is sort of important for a quarterback.

Absolutely agree the kid is electrifying running the ball

Was wondering how him and some of the sophomores would respond to being “the hunted”

They got in a good groove last year with Rocket Sanders and a punishing ground game. He could be a #1 pick some day but his accuracy and pocket presence has been downright terrifying this year. And teams are not letting him run as much

You watching every play and taking this stance makes complete sense honestly. I’ve never really seen you give your own opinion

So you decided to abandon the topic and make this about me. Very mature.

While I'm taking up space in your head, make sure to read up on what scouts and execs are saying.
