ESPN Baton Rouge radio doesn’t expect Charlie Weis Jr to coach Fiesta Bowl

Gotta imagine Golding's stressed out of his mind right now. He's dealing with the LSU assistant drama, trying to identify/recruit portal players with a recruiting department that was probably stripped of its best people by Kiffin, and prepare for the biggest game of this life all while learning on the job.
The calendar is just all messed up in CFB right now, IMO. I really dislike all these coaching moves going on in the middle of playoff runs, but with National Signing Day where it is now, and the portal opening up during the playoffs it’s hard to really blame the coaches. I just think it does a huge disservice to the sport, the fans, and the players who’ve worked their tail off all year.

I’ve thought about this as well but as a counter point, what is it’s a success tax that brings parity. Similar to the NFL draft where the lowest performing teams get first crack at the most valuable talent.

I don't believe for a second they don't coach in the game. It's free advertising for Lane to let Ole Miss keep going since he built it, and what he can sell to kids to come to LSU. He'd be dumb to force them to leave now.
He doesn't need anything ol Miss does to "sell " kids to LSU. That school recruits itself and Lane can sell ice to an eskimo.

He never thought they could win; that's why he didn't insist on staying until the playoff run was done. It's also why he left Ol Miss - he didn't think they could bring a title home.

Ol Miss is using all this as tacklin fuel.

No. They are a rival and any Ole Miss success could affect LSU recruiting.

They are their conference rivals competing for the same recruits. ... especially with the portal open.

Ole Miss can use an extra week in the portal because of playoffs.. LSU cannot.

Kiffin is under no obligation to help them.

Actually he did ask the Ole Miss AD to allow him to coach through the playoffs. The AD told him to leave immediately if he accepted LSU offer

Some key points brought up in video:

* Host told by highly placed LSU source before the game with UGA that the current arrangement of LSU coaches continuing to pull double duty between the two programs was “not realistic” for much longer

* LSU is expected to add over 30 players to the roster via the transfer portal and Kiffen wants his assistant coaches back in BR to host potential players on their visits

* Host believes LSU assumed Ole Miss would probably lose to UGA and their assistant coaches would be back after the game to help with portal acquisitions.

* 3 of the LSU assistant coaches on loan to Ole Miss (one of which is Weis) desperately want to continue coaching.

* Weis contract calls for him to pay back 300% of his annual salary in a buyout (which would end up coming out to around $7.5 million) if he were to ultimately decide to not honor his contract with LSU and leave before April 1st. Host believes this negates any chance of him doing so, meaning if Kiffen calls him back to BR then he would have to go.

* LSU is angered by Ole Miss exploring tampering charges against Kiffen and LSU for looking to poach players from Ole Miss roster. Host points out the hypocrisy of Ole Miss accusing LSU of tampering with their players while simultaneously inviting LSU assistant coaches into their facility to coach the team, where they would obviously have access to those same players.

These are all major distractions and good news for us. This is the time of year you don’t want distractions like this that’s for sure.

I’m sure we would allow a rival to use our coaches for a natty run…

Actually, when we didn’t and told them to **** off, that would be considered alpha behavior.

Get over it.

Why do we need it? Yall said Ole Miss was cheeks? And Oregon and Indiana.

Now you’re afraid?
