ESPN article Richt could be gone if loss to UF

Go Dawns F the turds. If Georgia opens up it instantly becomes the second most appealing job, with USCw being first.

A lot can happen but if Richt looses his job then there's a 99% chance he ends up here. I just don't see them turning him down. I still have a few I'd prefer but he'd do good here no doubt. He'd always have us in the hunt, I just wonder if he can win big.

Right if available may be third or fourth on my list. But he'd be the first real coach we've had since Butch so we'd still be in great shape. I'd almost imagine Richt gets some good assistants being from the SEC as well. I don't know if we'd win championships but we'd be close to the playoffs every year in our division. At least we'd be playing grown up football again. But like I said, not my first choice.

Intriguing but think he may come burnt out and not with the needed motivation and desire to get Miami back to the top.
It's going to take someone that is hungry and wants to prove himself to do it..
After a long career at UGA I don't think Richt would be up for the challenge.

Although, if they fire him, he might work like a mad man to prove they were wrong.

I have a strong suspicion -- and a related bad feeling in my stomach -- that Richt ends up being on the shortlist.

Good. He's proven and would be the first great hire in 20 yrs. Anyone not happy with Richt needs to come to grips with butch not being hired and this new hc could have been mario cristobal

This scares me!!! something is just not right with Richt, WTF is the problem with him? I thought he be good but in big games he don't have it

In 14 years he's won 74 % of his games, 69% of his SEC games, 9 bowl games, 6 sec east titles, 2 sec titles, won 10+ games 9 times, finished in the top 25 eleven times, and the top 10 eight times (3, 6, 6, 10, 3, 10, 4, 9). All in the SEC. Imagine what he'd do in the ACC coastal recruiting out of South Florida. This at Georgia, not Alabama. UGA has 1 national title, in 1980. The 2 coaches that came before him had 2 top ten finishes in 12 years (10 and 8 in 1992 and 1997). The great Vince Dooley finished in the top 10 eight times in 25 years, and he has a freaking statue.

Good stuff but still need a investigation, sometimes numbers lie....

Lived in ga...he should own the state. The whole state is uga, only area I would give us Valdosta to fsu.
Your saying all these schools are recruiting ga well it's because of him..and they still don't have real footing. Believe me it isn't like um where u have legit poachers...the elite in ha have Uga#1 or #2 from birth...the bagmen are Uga..controller/mentors ug..teachers Uga fans.. CoAches uga fans...I lived in atl and it was like ga tech didn't exist and they had a good team T the time.

He's an underachiever..who for an offensive guy trots out a bland offense yearly with elite athletes. He would stabilize the program but nothing more imo. Wouldn't be the worst hire though.

Other SEC (and ACC) schools recruit Atlanta HARD. Atlanta had more NFL draftees last year than Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. UGA can't get everyone in ATL, but they do a good job. Also, I live in Chattanooga, on the GA/TN border, and I work in Dalton, GA, in NW GA. This is UGA country, but it's also borderline Bama country up here.

Exactly. The names poo poo'd on this site is hilarious

Don't want another job opening that we would have to compete with. Let's hope for a win. We are the second best job, I'd like to keep it that way

Georgia is an interesting job. SEC positions, while high-paying and glamorous for sure, come with a ton of baggage and internal/external pressures. You are definitely at the apex of the coaching ladder in CFB, but the path to winning is EXTREMELY difficult, especially when compared to an ACC job. Bottom line, it takes the right type of candidate.

Here's a new quality I would like in the next head coach....

Not been fired from college job before

If UGA opens up it WILL be the top landing spot.

But I doubt he is gone. The fan base is split between those that want him gone, and the moron GA residents who consider him too much of 'a good Christian man' to want him fired.

Richt just got a raise and extension this year. Doubt they fire him this season.
