Erosion/Restoration

Discipline. I'd like to see us not at the bottom or anywhere close to the bottom of the country in penalties and penalty yards per game.

You mean similiar to the 1991 Cotton Bowl vs Texas? That was Da U in its glory days. Being penalized 15 yards means nothing if you can just drive 15 more yards.

Personally I'm just looking forward to winning games. Also returning to the Orange Bowl even though I know that's never going to happen.

Looking forward to seeing the defense play aggressive. I know we have lacked some talent the last few years but I could never understand playing the bend but don't break and allowing QBS to slaughter us.

I'd rather us give up the 400 yards passing and being aggressive, physical, and have potential to cause turnovers than give up 400 yards passing and be soft.

I know Diaz is aggressive so I'm happy. Let's live and die by the blitz this season we know our secondary will have some issues.

dictating games, & having the other team adjust their game plan because we're out coaching them....

Quality Wins... Although our record was 8-5, we only beat 3 teams with a winning record, and I don't really count beating FAU or Bethune Cookman as quality opponents... The 3 teams we beat with winning records were a combined 23-16, and the other 4 teams were a combined
16-33... Bethune Cookman wasn't a fair comparison

RESTORE
More Man to Man pass coverage.
Safety Blitzes.
Blocked Kicks - Seemed like we used to have some bad *** kick blockers every year (Tremaine Mack was the best ever). Golden's teams never did **** on special teams.
Legends on the sidelines during games.
The Hooters Owl in the East end zone.
Being able to believe the words coming out of the Coach's mouth.

What are some of the things you are most looking forward to being restored at this program that have slowly eroded since the end of Coker's tenure?

A few of my thoughts:

1) QB pressure: our d-line used to dictate what the opposition tried to do, so much so that our linebackers weren't really asked to blitz much. This may take time, but I'm very optimistic that Coach Kool can restore what was once our calling card; we will need it considering the youth and overall lack of depth in our back seven.

2) Second-half adjustments: to me, a sign of a well-coached team. This is where I think Richt and his staff can shine immediately compared with the last regime. Show me that you can adjust when things don't go as planned. Again, we used to be known for this.

3) Four fingers: I know we still do this, but I would like it to actually mean something again. This is all about conditioning and attitude. When practices are harder than games, it's easier to have that extra gear in the fourth quarter. Sick of watching leads shrink or comebacks fall short in the last minutes.

What say you?

Agree with you on most points. Except I don't believe that Golden was actually any worse of a coach in the 4th quarter than he was in any other quarter. Or that he was any worse in the 2nd half than 1st half. I think you just remember the 4th quarter more since it occurs last. I think that Golden was an equally awful coach all 4 quarters.

It turned my stomach watching Miami games the last 12 seasons and having the announcers talk about our team speed like we actually had any. Made me sick. Team speed? UM and team speed hasn't gone together in a very long time.

Exactly. Impose OUR will. It's been far too long.
