Ermon Lane?

I said it before and I'll say it again, I wasn't that impressed with Lane.

I had some battles on the recruiting board on this topic. Real talk: I didn't think his production would be this low. Think the "line" D$ and I went back and forth on was that I didn't think he'd live up to elite status. I did concede his talent, so this is at least mildly surprising to see him potentially outright bust.

Valid point. There were some that had speculation ( I was not one of them) about Lane but NO ONE expected him to be this bad. I can't help but wonder what happens if he ended up in Miami? We'll never know. Either way, **** him now.

Probably the same. In the games I watched him in during his senior year, the guy was lackadaisical as could be. Probably an attitude and ethic thing with him. Who knows. Really hard to judge recruits without knowing more about their mental makeup.

Most importantly, **** right @ your last statement. The relevance here is how this relates to our judgments of SoFla recruits.

I thought he'd be good. I was there live for his game against Northwestern and he put on one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. And he played hard on both ends.

His production dropped big-time as a senior. My mistake was putting too much stock into the Under Armour Game, where he played great. I assumed he just needed to get around elite competition to perform. It turned out that he had deeper issues.

I'm not. He's a good athlete and a tremendous blocker. He was a five star prospect. The blocker part tells me he's not afraid to be physical. That MAY translate to defense, if this is true.

Remember when Karlos Williams switched to running back the 2nd week of season?
Maybe, we could get a similar result?

i never saw it with this kid. funny thing is him, keith bryant ,and matthew thomas all tried to clown us and all are busts.

Naw MAtthew thomas might be the best player on their defense..... Lane did play Safety in high school but this is hilarious, but i was one of the many who screamed Ermon Lane was overrated...when a lot of the boards claimed we needed dudes like this to stay home

i think matthew was the most talented but he was expected to make an impact the day he got on campus. he has taken a minute. reality tho is we all know he didnt want to be there.

I'll take my lumps on MThomas. Saw that guy live and thought he'd be fantastic. Saw him do things in both coverage and around the edge that any defensive coordinator would want. Not a **** clue what has really happened there.

He has battled injuries ever since he has arrived in Tallahassee. I still think the talent is there, but I aint losing a bit of sleep watching him struggle with the injuries.

Ermon kind of reminded me of a slower, lazier Aldarius Johnson in high school. I was never impressed. I will say that I was beyond ****ed when we lost out on Thomas.

On a side note.. I love seeing these south Florida players fail that played Miami in recruiting. Lots of this happening lately, they all suck or have been transferring because they hate where they're at.

Wow, it's amazing that you're the only one who saw this. I mean, some people thought he was overrated, but even they were blinded by the hype.

speaking of fsu receivers, what happened to d'vante phillips and george campbell

Phillips supposedly looked good in a couple scrimmages this fall camp, but nothing in an actual game. Campbell, haven't heard anything on him since the day he got there. Not surprised by that though. Hate to sound like everyone else saying they knew all along, but I wasn't ever all that impressed by Campbell.

I know Campbell got injured I believe. Isnt he out significant time? Phillips has been non-existant. Another player who followed the crowd instead of staying home. He would have been in the two deep easily on our squad and gotten significant PT behind Coley and Richards.

Getting Phillips out of south florida was probably legit.
I know we hear a lot of ...kids needing to get away from south florida...90% of the time it is b.s. and those kids arent around any real, real troube.

Phillips really needed to get out from what i know. Add to it he lived with Dalvin Cooks grandma..and is like brothers with Cook. Wherever cookw ent he likely was going
