-Info is from Tim Watts, the recruiting guy for Alabama's 247 site

-QB commit David Cornwell is recruiting Lane

-Lane has made it clear he wants to be in the same class as a bigtime QB

-Lane's recruitment won't be over anytime soon with his OVs being the key

-While many people think Lane will end up in Miami, sources say it is an Alabama vs Florida battle for the S FL playmaker

This is going to make the Matt Thomas saga look like a walk in the park when it is all said and done. The number of "sources" and "insiders" is going to be ridiculous.

Fixed it for ya lol

Just take all the info for what it's worth. As far as everyone knows UM, UF, & Bama are all very much in play. I wouldn't count out USC either

It's only June. This season is big for Lane's recruitment. His recruitment has the classic setup of him not being a Cane but SO much can change between now and NSD. The other thing about Lane is we don't really 'need' him. I say that as in his position is not a position of need. I do look at recruiting with a "stack chips" mentality though and we 'need' the best player available each year. Ermon Lane is the best player at his position in South Florida, from a feeder school, with a man who his family is very close to as a coach (Barrow) and player (Waters) that he's close with. Above and beyond his talent level, I think I am the most interested in Ermon's recruitment because of what it says about our program. Ermon Lane needs to be a Cane. Can we put a product on the field that keeps him home? Can we do enough to keep these $EC schools from taking him away. I think his recruitment is a microcosm of South Florida and UM recruiting, which is why it's so interesting to me.

I think IHATETHISPLACE said it before --- some of the recruitment of Lane is about keeping UF and Bama out of SFL rather than simply getting a very good recruit.

I don't think that's what he's saying at all. I think he realizes like we do that we need elite players right now to get back to where we wanna be. But getting Lane for those guys is more about getting a foothold in South Florida recruiting. It seemed like you were implying that we were only recruiting him to keep those schools out.

Which is why Lane's recruitment is so interesting. By landing him, we ultimately do both.

Agreed. Did not mean to imply it was only about keeping teams out. Good player + Keep out recruiting rivals = Win/Win

While receiver is not a huge position of need I kinda want lane as a big **** you to satan and muscrap

Always knew this was going to be a fight, just have to keep on him and see what happens in the end.

I would love to keep Lane is S.Florida but if we end up getting Langham, Dixon, Rudolph then I'm good.

Lane is a WR and not a DT or QB so I'm good if he leaves.

Yawn..... If he goes else where I will give ZERO ####'s. our WR depth is retarded and we'll get ours.

If this kid goes elsewhere he needs to be slapped. That's some *****made **** going to a school like 'Bama or Florida when your family and best friend are at UM. That wouldn't be as bad as Patchan, but it would be up there. Have some ******' pride in your town and your family.

Im under the opinion that Lanes game is pretty much on par, if not a little ahead of where Amari was at this point. And i think i speak for most of us when i say that im still pretty salt rhat coop slipped away when he was pretty much in our back yard. So id be lying if i said i would settle for Dixon and another along with Langham instead of landing Lane. Dude is a big time playmaker with big play ability that can pop the lid off the defense the second he steps on the field, just as Amari proved. If we lose him, we lose him. But i hope the staff/kaaya is putting the full court pressure on Erm, because id really like him here.
