Enos/Diaz Have to Pick Up Pace on Offense. We Play to slow

The offense and defense were BOTH “good enough” to win Uf and unc.

Problem is, “good enough” leaves too much room for other factors to negatively impact the outcome.

Penalties and special teams sunk us both those games and caused good enough efforts to come up short of the victory.

We need great gameplans on both sides and to continuously improve execution on the field. Make plays, take advantage of mismatches, and seize opportunity when it presents itself.

You don’t want to be the team that loses close games because of inadequate plans and bonehead mistakes on the field.

Losing close games does not necessarily mean you are close to winning, even though I believe we are. If the coaches get it together, the players willl follow suit and this can be a fun season that puts us on a very positive trajectory.

The offense is working *between the 20s*. That’s a huge caveat. I can’t say an offense is working when you have 10 drives in 2 games that are 1st down inside your opponent’s 35 and they result in a combined 12 points. (And you lose both games by less than a TD). That’s incredibly poor.

BUT....I do agree it looks better than last year. I do agree we saw progression from week 1 to week 2. There are things to like. So you’re correct, it needs to come together in scoring range and we have GOT to be able to make a god**** kick once in a while.
Yep, definitely agree on red zone efficiency, but the offense didn't work anywhere on the field last year.

i won't disagree with you there. but after the 1st quarter, we shut them down except for the last drive. once again we were in the red zone, and got nothing. the UF game was an even way, way worse example to support your stance. that was 50/50 on the offense/special teams.
What are you talking about? The closest we got was INC's 32 yard line. Baxa missed a 49 yard field goal. That's not what most would call red zone. Offense was not the reason we lost to UNC.

Against UF it was a team loss. Even the defense pitched in and had an assist in the loss There were 4 missed tackles on a 66 yard pitch and catch TD. And another 65 yard pass on UFs game winning drive where Frierson got beat at the line of scrimmage without safety support. If any one play by any group was turned around, this loss most likely is a win. If your point is the offense didn't take control of the game and put it out of reach, your right, they didn't. But you can say that about any offense, for any team, that's ever lost a game.

In every game there's a point where a single play will make a difference. Against mismatched teams it usually happens in the first quarter and you can create separation so the other team doesn't have a chance.

But in evenly matched teams it's more often in the second half and frequently the 4th quarter. We had that chance with both UF and UNC but we weren't mentally tough enough to take advantage when the opportunity came.

ok. 3 points off of 4 turnovers is pretty standard. we'll put equal blame on the defense who held perrine to what, 30 yards rushing. you are right, they allowed 2 big plays in 4 quarters vs a top 10 team. if u wanna place equal blame on the defense, that's your opinion. i strongly disagree

my point is that the offense/special teams are equally to blame for the UF loss. WAAAAAAAAAAY more than the defense and it isn't close.

i'll take ur word for it on not being in the red zone vs UNC, i just dont remember.

I'm not happy about either of those games either. But it's an exercise of futility try to lay the blame on any one thing, group, or individual. You only end up frustrated.

i agree but what the **** for the sake of discussion, it kills time at work :D

Team losses both games. No one thing caused the loss either game. Plays not made on offense, defense and kicking game all helped lose

People still defending this offense or nah?
I think the offense is better under Enos but not as good as it needs to be to be a contender in any meaningful game.

I have questions that can't be answered until a few games next season.

This is like ******* Roseanne for a few years and then moving on to Rosie O’Donnell and saying it’s better. No my guy, it’s still absolutely awful. Stop selling yourself short. “Better than Richt” is not what this program deserves. It deserves a competent offense. We’ve seen it about 10% of the time this year so far.

I don't know what going from Barr to O'Donnell is like. The fattest chick I been with was 145lbs.

No argument there. I didn't mention "Better than Richt" to mean it's an acceptable offensive performance here at Miami. I meant is was an improvement in the sense that were not running up the A-gap three straight and punting anymore. That last offensive drive tonight was eerily reminiscent of a 2018 Mark Richt offense. Everyone on the planet saw we went into conservative play calling.
