So you cherry picked stats.
Jesus. Go to bed dude.
So you cherry picked stats.
You selected the specific drives we didn’t get any points or just a field goal correct ? because it looks a bit misleading as i know we score more tds than that near the goal line. We Do need to score more and everyone knows that and no one is disputing that.Defense hasn’t been good enough either. But just score in the redzone when you have the opportunities and both games are over way before the drives the defenses gave up.
It’s the same argument I have with people all the time. Points are not worth more in the 4th quarter. They all count the same. How bout stepping on someone’s throat when you have the chance and not leaving games up to your defense?
1st and 10 on UF 22: 3 points
1st and 10 on UF 28: 3 points
1st and 10 on UF 11: 0 points
1st and 10 on UF 31: 0 points
1st and 10 on UF 24: 0 points
Lose the game by 4
1st and 10 on UNC 25: 3 points
1st and goal on UNC 8: 0 points
1st and goal on UNC 7: 3 points
1st and 10 on UNC 28: 0 points
1st and 10 on UNC 32: 0 points
Lose the game by 3
Sorry man, that’s bad offense. Period. You had plenty of chances to take these games by the throat, and you didn’t, plus your kicker has been AWFUL. Worse than awful. I’m an offensive guy....to me, if you’ve got the ball 1st and 10 deep in your opponent’s territory in a tough rivalry game, or in a road night game in your division, you snatch souls. You don’t score a total of 12 points on 10 drives with 1st downs at or inside your opponent’s 30 yard line. That’s nowhere near good enough.

I will. Hopefully you'll retake statistics while I'm sleeping. I'm sure day one they'll tell you when analyzing numbers you can't say in this yes and this no when reaching a true mathematical total.
And FYI, we've outscored our three opponents 41-0 in the second quarter of our three games.
What does that mean?
You're right. It's much better if their offense has the ball. Defenses never wear down, so why worry?LMAO. Holy **** man. It absolutely blows my mind that in today’s world with all the information we have, that people think like this. You’d have been an incredible coach in 1977.
1. I’d rather be an offense that can score quickly and then have a defense that can get you the ball back and score again...
2. Enos offense is too fckn slow for me... especially when it takes a full 30 second clock to run a play for 2 yards.
3. If we scored a touchdown every possession than it wouldn’t be an issue but lack of scoring output is worst of all time compared to how long we hold the ball.
Offense has definitely been the reason we lost both of our games
We're not going to peak on offense by game 2. Finishing drives is the next step in progressing from the bottom of the barrel Richt left us in but let's not discount the already gigantic step we've taken of managing to stay on the field and not being a 3 and out machine. Which is why we've found ourselves with so many RZ opportunities this year in the first place.
Our troubles in the RZ meanwhile have been partly Enos but on the players as well. Off the top of my head I can think of Clark completely blowing his assignment from the 3 yard line against UNC and letting the only possible tackler get to Harris. Otherwise he would've walked into the endzone. Against Bethune Jarren had an extremely bad underthrow to a wide open Hightower that would've kept the offense chugging along. Instead we found ourselves in third and long and Bubba ends up missing a chip shot. These mistakes will get cleaned as the players get more games in.
Could you ask for better? Of course. Do we need to get better? Of course. But let's not go into panic mode because of what the stats tell us after 2 road games with one of the youngest offenses in the country.
That 3rd down percentage has me more worried than the RZ numbers. Defenses are harder to breakdown inside 25 yards and we should expect a bit of a learning curve in that area for an offense so young. With more reps they'll get more comfortable and find what works for them.Good post and certainly fair. And I said several times in my replies on this thread that it's only 3 games and there's no reason to think the offense can't get better. But unfortunately we haven't been able to win either of our real games while the offense is going through these growing pains. Now there's zero safety net in the division, and we lost to our most hated rival. Sure as **** would've loved to somehow find a way to win those 2 games even though the offense is clearly not clicking yet. I sure as **** hope it does soon, we all do. But it wasn't good enough to win either game, and then special teams dunked it's head under water as it was gasping for breath.
Only thing I can't ride on you with is the part about taking a gigantic step towards staying on the field. I see clear progress from what we watched last year....no doubt about it. But against FBS competition, the offense is 127th in the country in 3rd down percentage. That's a very Richtian number. That, along with red zone efficiency, must clearly get better. 5 for 24 in the first 2 weeks on 3rd down is downright awful.
You're right about 3rd downs conversion but it's not like we're not getting first downs. We're not the 3 and out machine we were last year. We're currently tied for 26th in total first downs in a tightly bunched group. Only 6 more first downs would make us tied with Clemson at 10th. And many ahead of us are the air raid teams with more possessions per game.Good post and certainly fair. It's not like he's intentionally running the clock down when we're trying to come from behind.I support the OP's premise. I thought Manny said he wanted an offense that would put pressure on the opposing defense. Running the play clock down to zero each play and running slow developing play action plays out of a power I is not putting pressure on anyone. It's one of the reasons we lost to Florida.
And unless OP went into a coma right after the UF game and is just waking up now "slow developing play action plays" is a moronic thing to say. It's not like he's intentionally running the clock down when we're trying to come from behind.
This all day. Manny makes this OC hire like it's in the vault that shows who killed Kennedy. The whole time saying he wants a fast spread offense that will utilize the type of players Miami gets and puts them in space. Heavy rumors about Fedora and then Applewhite, he gets Tate and all Indications are we'll see what we've been screaming for for years. Lulz, all Enos does is motion and then run under center, extremely slow, PA pro style BS.I support the OP's premise. We're also on the bottom of the list for penalties (both # and yardage), most of which seem to be offensive penalties (holding, delay of games). I would think that puts us at a 3rd down disadvantage. I can't find any numbers on it but I noticed that the teams with the highest conversion rate tend to be the least penalized team. I wonder what our average distance is on 3rd down attempts.
