Not in the national numbers, no. That’s why I said against FBS competition.
In the success rates, yes. Which is even more embarrassing.
In 3 games, yes, including the high school team we played last week, we have a 0% success rate on 3rd/4th down in the first quarter of all 3 games. That’s, shall we say, not good. The other stats (YPP, redzone, scoring...those are against FBS opponents aka do not include Bethune). Of course it’s a small sample size. It’s early in the year. Nobody said they can’t get better. But to this point, the offense has been average at best. If you want to say it’s because we have a freshman QB and tackles and guard and sophomores everywhere and a new scheme, ok. But that doesn’t change the bottom line. It hasn’t been good enough. Bottom 10 in the country in red zone TD % is how you get beat unless you get absolutely elite defensive play, which we haven’t had either. But nobody has scored 30 on us. You’d like to think your offense can get to that number. Surely against UNC you would. But so far, no dice.
